Job Title: ASSISTANT PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING PRACTITIONER
Grade: Band 4
Hours: 37 per week

Location: Base to be at Touchstone – IAPT, 179-181Haslewood Drive. Leeds. LS9 7RE
Department:Touchstone IAPT:Voluntary Sector Partner within Leeds IAPT
Reports to: Touchstone IAPT Team Manager
It will be necessary to work flexible hours including some evenings
Key Working Relationships
Team manager, Deputy Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Leeds IAPT colleagues, referrers, GPs and service users, LCH Head of Service.

Job Purpose

The post holder will ;-
Work under supervision in the IAPT service to provide brief Triage Assessments and Step 2 courses and work towards providing cCBT (Step 2 Computerised Step 2 Treatment). .
Through conductingtriagedetermine if clients are suitable for Treatment with Leeds IAPT with the support and guidance of Supervisors/Senior PWPs.
Support the delivery of Step 2 CBT courses for anxiety and depression. Contribute to the collation and analysis of course evaluation and feedback and identifying who can gain from further treatment with Leeds IAPT.
There will also be a networking and capacity building or community development aspect to the role. You will promoteLeeds IAPT by attending events and developing relationships with a range of stakeholders to increase and widen access to the service with particular reference to defined target groups.
Develop and deliver one off workshops to low acuity groups such as Mindful employers.
Involvement in service working groups looking at building the capacity of the service in relation to improving access figures and Step 2 treatment. .
This post is intended to develop clinical skills to enhance the post holders opportunities to apply for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) roles whilst also having a significant networking and capacity building aspect.
We are looking for people who have energy, enthusiasm , having already gained relevant skills and experience in the wider mental health field. All candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to improving access to Mental Health treatment for the diverse communities of Leeds.
Experience of working with disadvantaged communities is desirable and a strong commitment to equality of opportunity is essential for this post.
Overview of Responsibilities: -
  1. CLINICAL
1.1.Triage and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
1.2.Undertakes patient – centered triageinterviews to identify the areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
1.3.Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to service referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referrer as necessary or steps-up to the relevantIAPT treatment.
1.4.Work closely with Senior PWPs and your supervisor, ensuring appropriate use of service protocols and policies.
1.5.Co-facilitate Step 2 Psycho Educational courses to groups of people with common mental health problems.
1.6.Develop and deliver one off workshops as both brief treatment and a route in to IAPT.
1.7.Build links with other groups, communities and agencies to promote Leeds IAPT across Leeds, with an aim to support appropriate referrals being made to the service.
1.8.Attend promotional events, where appropriate.
1.9. Following training deliver Step 2 cCBT.
1.10.Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and group sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
1.11.Participate in Service development through attending Working Groups and Task groups focused on Access to the service and Step 2 treatment.
1.12.Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
1.13.Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
  1. PROFESSIONAL
2.1. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body, and keep up to date with recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS and National Institute for Clinical Excellence). Adhere to professional code of practice.
2.2.Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
2.3.Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of treatment for common mental health problems.
2.4.Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
2.5.Attend and actively participate in clinical and managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Line Manager.
2.6.Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.
2.7.Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

3.6.To work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the Service, including undertaking out of hours and weekend work as required.
3.7.To be inducted, supervised, performance monitored and appraised in line with the organisation’s performance management policies and procedures.
3.8.To be responsible for personal learning and development where appropriate and undertake training, both mandatory and optional, to increase knowledge, skills and awareness.
3.9.To provide monitoring information and reports as part of funding and organisational requirements and for the Board of Trustees as requested by Touchstone management.
3.10.To operate within the aims, policies and practices of Touchstone at all times and to be committed to and promote the organisation’s Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discriminatory policies.
3.11.To work with managers and colleagues to identify manage and minimize risks within the overall Leeds IAPT and Touchstone risk management frameworks.
3.12.To use the Community Information System to input and retrieve information appropriate to the care of individuals on caseload and to have a good competency in the use of it to an agreed standard (i.e. the European Computer Driving license).To work across the city, as required, to meet service demand.
3.13.To undertake any other duties as directed by the Team Manager, in line with the responsibilities of this post.
