Job Title: Children & Young Peoples Service Operations Manager (Maternity Cover)

Location: The Enterprise Hub, Weoley Castle, Birmingham

Accountable to: Head of Children, Young People & Community Services

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours: 37hrs per week, to include evenings and weekends as and when required

Employment Status: 1 year Fixed Term Maternity Cover

Purpose of Role

·  Responsible for overall day to day operational delivery of all CYP Services. These included Short Breaks for Disabled Children, Community Short Breaks, CYP Personal Assistant Project

·  To work closely with the Head of Service and the Community Hub Operations Manager to implement the CYP & Community Hub Strategic Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Support, lead and manage a team of 3 CYP Coordinators to deliver organisational objectives against defined service targets and standards.

·  To maintain and develop Person Centred services to meet the needs of CYP accessing the service.

·  Oversee comprehensive Person Centred assessment and planning for CYP who access the service.

·  Achieve the highest standards of safeguarding for all CYP who come into contact with our services through implementing and monitoring of all safeguarding, health & safety alongside any regulatory and quality standards.

·  Provide on call and out of hours support as and when required.

·  To develop innovative and high quality services in partnership with a range of agencies and voluntary and community groups to reflect local needs.

·  Ensure that CYP and their families & carers are routinely involved in evaluating and developing services to meet their needs using a wide variety of methods.

·  Ensure that any compliments, comments and complaints are acknowledged, responded to and recorded as appropriate.

·  Ensure all recording and data capturing is maintained to high and consistent standards across the service and is routinely monitored.

·  Ensure compliance with a range of relevant legislation and guidance to ensure that all service delivery exceeds performance targets and best practice.

·  Work within agreed budgets.

·  Contribute to the development and implementation of Midland Mencap’s marketing strategy.

·  Maintain effective collaborative working relationships across organisational and managerial boundaries.

·  Managing and developing relationships with statutory, voluntary and independent sector organisations.

·  Responsible for staff sickness, disciplinary and grievance procedures in accordance with Midland Mencap’s policies and procedures.

·  To manage staff recruitment and selection in line with Midland Mencaps procedures.

·  Present a positive image of Midland Mencap at all times as well as maintaining effective relationships with colleagues and external partners and other stakeholders.

Person Specification

CRITERIA / Essential / Desirable / Evidence (application, interview, presentation)
EXPERIENCE / At least 2 years experience of working with children & young people with complex needs.
At least 2 years management experience.
Managing a wide portfolio of services with competing demands.
Managing a diverse staff team with flexible working patterns.
Understanding of Person Centred Practice including writing assessments, Risk Assessments and care plans.
Understanding of Personalisation Agenda.
Experience of financial management and budget responsibility.

Working with Direct Payments and/or Individual Budgets.
Has worked evenings, weekends and school holidays as and when required.
Has provided out of hours/on-call support as necessary, inc: evening and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS / Level 3 Management and Leadership or equivalent experience.
Children and Young People’s Workforce Certificate or equivalent experience.
