JOB DESCRIPTION – Loans Support Officer (Credit Control)

Title Loans Support Officer (Credit Control)

Hours Thirty eight hours per week, regular hours by mutual agreement. May be varied for right candidate.

Period Permanent (3 month probationary period)

Pay £12.90p per hour, reviewed annually plus up to 6% employers matching contribution to the employee’s personal pension

Reports to the Deputy Manager

Main purpose and scope of the post

To ensure effective implementation of loans and credit control procedures.

Main duties & responsibilities

·  Implement the dad debt recovery policy

·  liaise with members applying for loans to increase approval rates

·  ensure that unsuccessful applicants are made aware of the reasons for the decision to decline the loan and what they might do to increase their chances if they re-apply

·  assist in preparation of loan applications ready for decision

·  assist members facing difficulty in repaying their loan to the credit union

·  notify the line manager of any loans in arrears of particular concern

·  ensure that adequate provision for bad debt is made in the accounts

·  enter debt recovery actions on Curtains

·  to prepare the report to the Board on bad debt provisioning

·  assist the Supervisory Committee (internal audit) in their monitoring duties

·  train to act as a member of the loans panel

·  assist with member services functions as and when required

·  maintain good customer service.

General

·  The postholder must work within the policies & procedures of the credit union at all times.

·  You are required to treat all information acquired though your employment, both formally and informally, in strict confidence. There are strict rules and protocols about access to and use of members’ personal and financial information. Any breach of these rules and protocols will be regarded as subject to disciplinary investigation. There are also procedures in place for employees to raise any matters of concern regarding issues of bad practice or mismanagement.

·  The post holder will undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required, and will be expected to work effectively with others in order to make a positive contribution to the work of the organisation

·  The post holder will be expected to keep under review his/her own training needs and attend training or other developmental activities from time to time as appropriate

The successful applicant must demonstrate that they have:

1.  direct experience of dealing with loan applications

2.  direct experience of credit control enforcement procedures

3.  excellent verbal and written communications skills

4.  accurate record keeping & reporting skills
