JOB PURPOSE
To support the Assistant Head in leading and managing teaching and learning at the Post 19 PATH at Tower Hamlets College. To ensure students are supported towards the most appropriate pathway for adult life. To work in partnership with Tower Hamlets Collegeand support students placed by them in the PATH project.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Strategic direction and development: Lead, develop and implement learning policies, plans, targets and practices to ensure contribution to the whole school development plan and PATH College curriculum and improvements
- To facilitate, monitor and evaluate the impact of long term plans and schemes of work based on the Post 19curriculum, to ensure that they contribute effectively to raising the achievement of students and their transition to a fulfilling adult life, in particular delivering the content of their EHCPs.
- To have overall responsibility for accreditation in the College also and to liaise closely with the Assistant Head and the Board of the Trust.
- To support the WRL coordinatorwith Enterprise and WRLat College
- To work with the Assistant Head in the collection and collation of student tracking data
- To support with issues relating to student centred planning andsupport withthe adult services and further education
- To link with outside agencies and other learning centres within the local area to develop opportunities for work experience and a more functional curriculum for Post 19
- To lead and support the team of staff at PATH
- Teaching and Learning: Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students. Secure and sustain effective teaching, evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of students’ achievements and set targets for improvement to ensure high outcomes.
- To plan and deliver a curriculum provision to ensure appropriate challenge and success for every student through target setting, monitoring and effective interventions.
- To demonstrate good knowledge of autism and the curriculum for Post 19 by keeping up to date with pedagogical and curricular developments and initiatives relating to further education in SEND.
- To monitor individual Behaviour Support Plans and standards of students behaviour
- To plan and implement strategies where development needs are identified.
- To contribute to overall college partnership
- To support teachers and support staff with communication with parents, partners and regulators.
- Leading and managing staff and lecturers: Lead, develop and enhance the teaching practice of others.
- To demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct and act as role model of good practice for other teachers and lecturers
- To ensure induction and support for new staff
- To lead staff training as appropriate.
- To act as a mentor for identified staff
- To take initial responsibility for the pastoral care and welfare of staff including supply staff within PATH
- To support with planning, organisation and deployment of staff including timetabling at PATH
- To support the Assistant Head with managing the PATHS contribution toward OFSTED outcome at the PATH College
- Staff and resources deployment: Identify and monitor appropriate resources to ensure that they are used efficiently, effectively and safely.
- To promote team work to ensure effective safe and professional working relationships.
- To support the Assistant Head in managingthe PATH College budgets to ensure best value for money.
- To develop an integrated approach to work experience within PATH
- To manage resources and staffing across PATH
- To liaise with the Assistant Head and review transitions each year

TEACHING
To undertake an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a class tutor or lecturer and subject specialist

Applicants must have:
Training and Qualifications:
- A teaching qualification recognised by the DfE.
- Training – special educational needs including autism or other relevant specialism.
- Experience of Post 19 curriculum.
Experience and evidence of:
- Successful classroom teaching or FE teaching including partnership teaching and working with additional adults.
- Experience of working with students with SEN and of raising standard of teaching and learning.
- Managing and leading an area of the curriculum (preferably vocational) and ability to co-devise and agree College curriculum
- Accreditation and internal awards structure
- Management and leading a team
- Safeguarding regulations
Knowledge and understanding of:
- Successful SEN practice within the secondary age range and knowledge of post 19
- Factors that influence the achievement of all students and how to raise levels of attainment for students with SEN to adulthood
- The role of assessment and monitoring progress in raising the achievement of all students
- Practices to create an inclusive environment, quality assurance and regulatory compliance in College
- Developing partnerships with parents and the wider community including the world of work and outside agencies
- Sustaining effective relationships with Tower Hamlets College.
Skills and ability to:
- Assess and monitor progress, maintain records and analyse data
- Support students through a range of teaching styles and approaches and interventions appropriate to individual need.
