Job Description: Head Lifeguard / Summer 2015
Summary: The Head Lifeguard, under the supervision of the Youth Programs Director, is responsible for supervising the lifeguard staff. Supervision of the pool area during public swimming and swim lessons, scheduling and training/mentoring lifeguard staff while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment at all times.
Supervisor: Directly responsible to Youth Programs Director
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the aquatics area within The Abington Club
- Act as the lead guard on shift
- Respond in a professional and prudent manner during an emergency situation
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of EMS
- Oversee member safety, equipment maintenance routine
- Cleaning and upkeep of the aquatics areas
- Conduct Cl and pH chemical testing at the beginning of the shift and record results
- Prepare and legibly complete appropriate reports
- Assign tasks to the Lifeguard Staff in order to facilitate patron safety
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings
- Uphold and enforce departmental and program area policies and procedures.
- Assist the Youth Programs Director in the administration of lifeguard staff
- Skill check and V.A.T drops
- Assist with lifeguard staff evaluations during head guard meetings
- Performs other duties, within the scope of the position, as assigned
Requirements: Must be at least 18 years or older. Maintain current Adult and Child CPR/AED, Certifications (provided during training) and be a strong swimmer. Must pass state background check.

Working Conditions
• Minimum: 25 Hours / Maximum: 35 Hours per week. May 15th to September 7th (Season)
- Hours include life guarding shifts, poolmaintenance and clerical work
• Work shifts include morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours required.
• Some required holiday hours.
