Open Position

Position: ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR, FULL-TIME BENEFIT ELIGIBLE (NON-STUDENT POSITION)

Department/Location: Position open at the downtown Portland Store location

Status: A (Full-Time); non-exempt; hourly

Estimated Start Date: Winter 2017 / 2018

Responsibilities:

1.  Provide store leadership including but not limited to delegation of duties, oversight, and supervisory responsibilities to sales staff in coordination with and in the absence of the Store Supervisor

2.  Responsible for creative merchandising of the store displays, includes designs, staging, and setup of merchandise

3.  Assist Store Supervisor with coordination and communication to buyers, warehouse, and other store locations regarding inventory levels, transfers, and defective merchandise

4.  Requests inventory, when needed, by submitting transfer paperwork to other store locations

5.  Perform backup functions for Store Supervisor with store deposits in their absence.

6.  Maintain knowledge of inventory available in back stock and on the sales floor

7.  Unpack merchandise and prepare for display on the sales floor (fold, put on hangers)

8.  Organize back stock storage area for safe and efficient inventory maintenance

9.  Communicate with supervisor and other sales floor staff to coordinate functions and solve problems

10.  Provide Best in Class customer service on the sales floor and on the telephone

11.  Use computerized systems for point-of-sale transactions including performing cash register functions

12.  Download and transmit sales reports, reconcile cash drawer

13.  Perform opening and closing duties; maintain security of the store

Minimum Qualifications

1.  H.S. Diploma or GED

2.  2-3 years retail experience, preferably with some experience in a lead, supervisor, or manager role

3.  Experience with computerized systems, and balance/reconcile a cash drawer

4.  Demonstrated ability to coordinate merchandise and create appealing displays

5.  Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with other sales staff

6.  Demonstrated ability to maintain performance under pressure and handle difficult customers in a positive manner

7.  Demonstrated ability to offer excellent customer service in person and over the telephone

8.  Willingness/availability to work a flexible schedule including weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and evening hours

Preferred Qualifications

1.  Higher Education or degree in Fashion, retail merchandise, business, or other related field

2.  Experience maintaining a stock room

3.  Experience creating and setting up merchandise displays

4.  Knowledge of Oregon State University

Physical Demands: Use a computer keyboard, read a computer screen; bend, stoop, reach, lift up to 50 pounds; fold and package merchandise; use a telephone.
