JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PROJECT MANAGER

Person Specification:

To have a sound knowledge of:

  • Relevant local, country and national social, community and health strategies
  • Relevant Government and Statutory services and networks serving the local community
  • Voluntary and Community organisations serving the local community
  • Local networks and forums relevant to the project
  • Microsoft Office applications including MS Word and MS Excel

Desirable qualities:

  • Ability to drive
  • Previous Project Management experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • To manage the effective delivery of the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Grant, ensuring that all outcomes are reached
  • To produce written reports for the Big Lottery in accordance with the grant
  • To line manage the Co-ordinators
  • To co-ordinate First Focus’s learning programmes
  • To manage the administration of the other projects happening at First Focus
  • To manage a press and media officer who will publicise First Focus, its support groups, its programmes, its events and identify news worthy stories
  • To attend the Trustees meetings and produce written and verbal reports on decisions made by the Planning group
  • To Chair the Planning Group
  • To manage First Focus’s cash book and petty cash box
  • To liaise with the Treasurer to ensure budget targets are being met
  • To check and approve invoices
  • To liaise regularly with First Focus’s staff, volunteers and users to ensure First Focus is effectively meeting identified need
  • To liaise with First Focus’s partners
  • To liaise with other organisations and agencies to ensure First Focus users have access to services and opportunities as needed
  • Manage development and training plans for staff, volunteers and beneficiaries in consultation with the Trustees
  • To hold bi-weekly meetings with Co-ordinators
  • To liaise with the Co-ordinators regarding the development of additional support and interest groups as led by group users
  • To manage referrals from other agencies
  • To monitor and evaluate the project
  • To identify and develop suitable projects and events with the lead Co-ordinator in keeping with the ethos of First Focus, with other local delivery partners
  • To attend relevant meetings and forums
  • To promote the concept of First Focus as an innovative model of good practice throughout the county
  • To manage effective delivery of any other grants ensuring all outcomes are reached
  • To produce written reports for any other funders in accordance with their grants
  • To seek sustainability and further development of First Focus both during the final year of the Big Lottery Grant and beyond, including exploring funding sources
