Hours / Weeks / 36 Hours Per Week, 42 Weeks per year (including 3 weeks during the summer break)
Reports to: / Deputy Headteacher

Purpose of the Job

To manage the creation, inputting and reporting of curriculum data.

  • To manage accurate data reporting to the Department for Education (DFE).
  • Manage aspects of the school Management Information System (SIMS).
  • To produce detailed examination analysis (KS3, 4 and 5).

Roles and Responsibilities – Data Management

  1. To provide accurate information from the school MIS for the Department for Education (DfE). This includes the School Census, Curriculum Mapping, and other DfE originated survey returns.
  1. To ensure the integrity of the data held on the school MIS system, to facilitate School Self Evaluation (SEF), School Improvement Planning (SIP) and Raising Attainment Planning (RAP). To provide reports to SLT as required.
  1. To provide up to date information and reports as required, ensuring that data is distributed in a format suitable Directors of Learning and individual members of staff.
  1. To provide departments with appropriate and accurate statistics for KS3, 4 and 5 students to allow for internal tracking and analysis throughout the year as well as for the annual post external KS4 and KS5 examinations analysis
  1. To liaise with AEP (Alternative Educational Programme) providers to ensure that data for students on AEP is accurately recorded and regularly updated, and to provide up to date information and reports about students on AEP as required.
  1. To ensure that data for all students is entered accurately into the school system. This includes importing CATs data, other data on prior attainment and to regularly check the accuracy of all data entered into the system.
  1. To work with relevant members of Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to produce and update the school Assessment, Recording and Reporting (ARR) Calendar and ARR Policy.
  1. To provide relevant and accurate statistics on examination entries and results for DfE, Governors, Headteacher, Senior LeadershipTeam and DoLs, for the school MIS and for the annual school prospectus
  1. To import and distribute the results of CATs assessments and to make this data accessible to all relevant staff
  1. Working with the relevant member of SLT to check DFE statistics and exam results information before publication via the AAT checking site (including disapplications)
  1. To access Fisher Family Trust (FFT), RAISE Online and SSAT Data Enabler websites as required, and to download relevant estimates to support challenging school target setting data for the school MIS

Roles and Responsibilities – Management of SIMS

  1. In collaboration with the Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher for data and systems, to ensure that the school is getting the best use from the MIS for ARR and curriculum and to keep the school at the forefront of MIS development.
  1. In collaboration with the Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher for data and systems, and working with the relevant member of SLT, to ensure that all members of staff are fully up to date with the school MIS. This includes induction of new staff as appropriate, giving training where required and running INSET on new procedures as they are set up.
  1. In collaboration with theDeputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher for data and systems, to manage the web interface with the school MIS (currently ePortal) to ensure that all staff have access to required statistical information.
  1. In collaboration with theDeputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher for data and systems, to liaise with the MIS provider and oversee the installation of updates and new software, and check their appropriate functions.
  1. In collaboration with theDeputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher for data and systems, to ensure that parents have access to, and are trained in the use of appropriate student progress information online. This includes producing guidance booklets for parents, and delivering face-face training sessions.
  1. To produce written guidance for staff to support their use of data and upload this guidance to the data room in Fronter so that it is accessible to all staff.
  1. To produce an annual quality review and evaluation of the school MIS team and process

General

To participate in a programme of self / professional development to ensure skills, knowledge and understanding are added to and kept up to date.

To complete any other tasks as directed by SLT associated with the responsibilities and specification of the role.

To carry out any other general office duties consistent with the grade of the post that may be required from time to time.

Qualifications

Essential / Desirable
  • Level 2 Qualification (or equivalent) in Numeracy and Literacy
  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration (or equivalent qualification e.g. A Level)
/
  • Relevant Degree
  • ITQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent

Experience
  • Significant experience of working within a school or sixth form college environment
  • Significant experience in an administration role
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and Word at an advanced level
  • Experience of liaising and building relations with internal and external partners in a work environment
  • Significant experience of using a school management information system
/
  • Experience of using SIMS
  • Experience of maintaining a Management Information System in a work environment
  • Experience of Training others in using a Management Information System
  • Experience of working with quality systems/ undertaking quality audits
