POSITION SUMMARY:

FLEX High School of Michigan is searching for a caring, passionate, and collaborative school leader who believes that all students can learn and succeed. Our mission is to engage opportunity youth and provide a safe environment, a personalized learning program, and college and career readiness within a flexible weekly schedule.ThePrincipal is the key stakeholder in ensuring all students and staff participate in building a culture of mutual respect so that each learner is able to explore and prepare their own story of success in earning a high school diploma and positively serving the community. The Principal servesastheAdministratoroftheirdesignatedschool(s)andisresponsibleforthe directionoftheinstructionalprogram,overallmanagementandoperationoftheschool(s) andrelatedfacilities.Thisincludesthesupervisionofallcertifiedandclassifiedemployeesassignedto serveintheschool(s).

  • Providesleadershiptoallstaffinpromoting thevision andmission ofthecharterschool.
  • Providesguidance,supervisionandassistanceininstructionalpracticesandcurriculumdevelopmentthatisresponsive totheacademicandculturalneedsofthestudentpopulation,includingEnglishLanguageLearnersandSpecialEducationstudents.
  • Providesleadershipforandfacilitatescollaborationwithall stakeholderson identifyinggoalsforstudentachievement;developstheSchoolImprovementPlan; assesses progresstowardmeetingthegoals
  • Supervisesandevaluatestheperformanceofallassignedcertified andclassifiedpersonnel;providescounselingandassistance,recommendsappropriateactionincasesofsubstandardperformances,andidentifiesandencouragesindividualteacherswithleadershippotential
  • Counselsstudents,recommends,and implementsstudentdisciplinaryactions inaccordancewith theMichigan Revised School Code,CharterSchoolpolicy,andprocedures,andtheschool'sstudentresponsibilitycode.
  • Maintainsaschoolclimatethatensuresthesafety,health,and welfareofstudentsandpersonnel;organizesandimplements a"School SafetyPlan";complies withmandatedchildabusereportingprocedures.
  • Provideseffectiveprofessionaldevelopmentandtrainingforallstakeholderstoimprovestudentachievementandbuildcapacityofteacherstoimprove teachingservicesto students
  • Collaborateswithmanagementstafftostafftheschoolproperly
  • Monitorsstudentassignments andteachercaseloads accordingtoschoolpolicies
  • Carries outaprogramof communityoutreachand parentsupportasa meansofcommunicatingandstrengtheningtheschoolprogram
  • Collaborateswithoperationsstafftomonitorcompliancewithattendanceprocedures,andaudits.
  • Plans,organizes,andconductsschoolextra-curricularactivitiesandevents.
  • Ensuresadherencetofederalandstatelaws,reporting requirementsandmaintenanceofschoolplans
  • Makesperiodicappraisalsofpupilprogressanddirectsreportstoparents
  • Plans,coordinatesandreviewstheworkofLeadershipTeam
  • Servesasassignedoncommittees
  • Performsotherdutiesasassigned

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

  • ValidMichigan Administrator’scertificate
  • ValidMichigan Teachingcertificate
  • 3 yearsofsuccessfulexperienceinan administrativeorsupervisoryposition,oneyearofwhichmusthavebeenina school-basedassistantprincipallevel position.
  • 3 yearsteachingexperienceatsecondary level
  • Master'sDegreeoradvancedstudyinthefieldof education,includingtheareasofadministration, supervision,andcurriculumdevelopmentfromanaccreditedcollegeoruniversity preferred.
  • Satisfactory Live Scan fingerprinting and background check clearances
