Job Title / Fundraising Team Leader
Reporting To / Head of Fundraising and Regional Development
Department/Location / Flexible – but with frequent travel to Winston’s Wish current key bases in Gloucestershire, West Sussex & North West
Main Purpose /
  • To grow manage & develop community & events fundraising income streams across the UK
  • To manage a team of fundraisers
  • To support growth of sustainable voluntary income as the organisation expands into new areas

Main Responsibilities /
  • In consultation with the Head of Fundraising, devise and deliver an annual and multi-year strategy to meet agreed income targets.
  • Lead & manage a team of community & events fundraisers based in multiple locations, to deliver agreed targets
  • Act as strategic lead for key cross-organisational flagship fundraising initiatives.
  • Provide a strong management framework for the team that helps to build confidence, independence and effectiveness.
  • Working with your team,provide an innovative, exciting and engaging suite of fundraising ideas/activities that will encourage participation of new and existing supporters in the community.
  • Encourage the development of local fundraising advisory & supporter groups recruiting individuals who can open doors to those who are able to raise money.
  • Develop relationships & partnerships with UK wide community and corporate organisations to support national presence of Winston’s Wish.
  • Keep up to date with new initiatives and developments in the area of community and local corporate fundraising and incorporate this knowledge into the expansion of the team’s work.
  • Manage an agreed expenditure budget in compliance with WW procedures and ensure timely reporting and forecasting.
  • Working with other Fundraising Team leaders and the Head of Fundraising, ensure that there is clarity as to how overlap areas (e.g. those raising money through running) are supported and credited.
  • Assess and deliver as appropriate local profile raising events to prompt the development of local community fundraising.
  • Work with the communications team to raise the profile of WW’s community fundraising events and activities

PERSON SPECIFICATION:Fundraising Team Leader

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required / Essential / Desirable
A minimum of 5 years fundraising experience with a proven track record for meeting income targets. / E
Experience of the development, delivery, monitoring and managing of annual fundraising plans and budgets. / E
3 years + staff management experience / E
Experience of community and events fundraising initiatives
/ E
Experience of bringing together and integrating disparate staff members and activities. / E
Experience of increasing the cost-effectiveness of fundraising initiatives / E
Experience meeting with and presenting to high-level supporters both in person and in writing. / E
Strong communication skills both written and verbal with an ability to produce concise and persuasive prose and deliver motivational presentations / E
Ability to identify income generating opportunities and respond quickly, innovatively and successfully / E
Strong organisation administrative/prioritising skills. / E
Ability to work in a team environment, to motivate and facilitate others. / E
IT literacy (outlook, Microsoft Office, internet, database). / E
Strong customer service and relationship management skills. / E

Educated to degree level or equivalent. / D
