JOB DESCRIPTION – Citizens Theatre
Job Title:Apprentice Producer

Background:
The Assistant Producer works with the Theatre’s artistic team to deliver the programming of the theatre.
Main duties & responsibilities:
- To support and assist the Executive Producer in programming the theatre
- To help facilitate productions, co-productions and tours of the theatre’s work
- To support new talent and identify new partners
- Assist and support the Executive Producer in the delivery of the theatre programme
- Assist and support the Executive Producer in the producing process, including negotiation, liaison, contracting, tour-booking, budgeting
- Assist the theatre’s Administration Manager with administrative arrangements for auditions
- Host all companies in conjunction with the Executive Producer
- Assist or lead on the production of readings, platforms and workshops
- Identify and help produce new projects and programmes of work to support the theatre’s artistic policy
- Explore and identify potential new partners for the theatre’s work
- Attend a wide range of work and meet artists on behalf of the Theatre and to report back accordingly to the Executive Producer.
- Act as point of contact for independent and emerging artists, theatre makers , companies and writers.
- Make and sustain relationships with other organisations across the UK.
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to develop strategy around work in development and help develop new audiences for the theatre’s work.
- Work closely with the production team over logistics, schedules and budgets.
- Liaise with Theatre staff, board and stakeholders as and when necessary.
- Support and promote all company policy.
- Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times with particular regard to the health, safety and welfare of customers, visitors, staff and yourself
- Any other reasonable duties required to ensure the smooth running of the business development department
Previous Experience:
ESSENTIAL
- A minimum of one year’s experience of producing professional theatre
- Dealing with people diplomatically and effectively
- Good IT & presentational skills
- Knowledge of a producing theatre
DESIRABLE
- Driving licence is desirable
- Office experience is desirable
