Grade/salary scale: £28,217 – £32,740 (CC_41- CC_51)

Terms & Conditions Teaching Contract (commitment to teach up to 600 hours)

Primary Purpose:

The Operations Manager will lead and manage the area on training and learning, quality and standards improvement, learner experience, target-setting and tracking of students, curriculum development, employer engagement, recruitment, staff deployment, staff development and resources. The Operations Manager will have proven ability to consistently meet key performance indicators relating to the above and to drive significant quality improvements in this curriculum area.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

·  Implement curriculum operational plans with responsibility for active management of attendance, retention, achievement and success rates.

·  Day to day management of Social Care including allocation of staffing to cover unexpected absence and dealing with immediate learner issues.

·  Be the curriculum expert for Social Care and Health advising the Curriculum Lead on current and future trends to ensure curriculum is up to date and meeting the needs of employers.

·  Take responsibility for case conferencing to ensure learners achieve across the whole of their learner entitlement.

·  Deal swiftly and effectively with student concerns and complaints in accord with relevant procedures.

·  Undertake learning walks and Lesson observations, ensuring all teaching staff in your area have regular developmental feedback and coaching which is used to improve learning and teaching.

·  Actively promote and demonstrate creativity and innovation in the use of new technologies to achieve excellence in all aspects of curriculum development and delivery and assessment in line with the Brilliant Learning Strategy.

·  Support a strong collaborative culture which supports positive partnerships and networks to enhance our delivery capacity and quality with key employers, sector skills councils and specialist sector organisations in all markets relevant to the curriculum area including 14-19, adult, employer and higher education.

·  Provide inspirational and motivational leadership; line manage and develop staff; enable outstanding performance in all aspects of the area’s work. Ensure the effective implementation of robust performance management processes in your area. Ensure appropriate support is given to staff in your area to achieve excellence.

·  Ensure that all provision is flexible, responsive and appropriate for business’ customers’ needs.

·  Support the Business Development team within CCB to ensure that the Social Care and Health offerings are fit for purpose and meet customer needs.

·  Develop and expand the provision of Social Care and Health training.

·  Ensure that learners receive a positive and outstanding experience from point of enquiry to completion.

·  Establish a culture and set of behaviours that enable the College’s challenging key performance targets to be met, in particular relating to learner and employer satisfaction, training and learning, success rates and recruitment.

·  Plan, develop and design courses and modes of delivery to meet the diverse needs of learners, communities and businesses and to maximise available funding in line with targets; ensure that the provision is actively promoted.

·  To lead brilliant learning for Social Care on your locality ensuring the implementation of the Brilliant Learning Strategy.

·  Develop the use of Moodle within own area.

·  Ensure that planning processes that drive and underpin the above are carried out effectively, particularly through course and curriculum area self-assessment.

·  To act as the champion and advocate for learners promoting good practice within the area and active learner leadership, taking responsibility for learners in Social Care and Health.

·  Carry out other duties, as agreed, relevant to the role.
