JOB DESCRIPTION (Catering)
JOB TITLE: STOREMAN AND ADMIN ASSISTANTPurpose of the job: To assist the Head Chef and Catering Manager in helping to achieve a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the College kitchens and stores. To ensure that at all times good stock rotation of dry goods and that there are adequate levels of stock. Paperwork and records need to be accurate, neat and up-to-date.
Responsible to: Head Chef
Accountabilities:
- Ensure the safe receipt of all incoming food and non-food products and check the following:-
- that the correct quantity of goods are supplied
- that the quality of goods meet expected standards
- that temperature controls and records are correct
- that items are delivered under correct conditions
- that the shelf life of products are adequate
- that all delivery details are recorded and
- that all products are date stamped accordingly
- Ensure that all goods are promptly and securely stored, under supervision as necessary, in the correct manner. Undertake accurate stock control checks (to include the College Bar) on a monthly basis and report any losses to the Head Chef.
- Ensure that stock rotation is adhered to at all times and provide details of short-life products to the Head Chef.
- Issue all goods as requested and alert the Head Chef to any request deemed unreasonable.
- Assume responsibility for the security of premises and keys in the stores areas. Ensure that areas are kept clean, tidy, yet accessible at all times and that broken stock is stored in the correct manner and utilised as a priority.
- Ensure the correct working of mechanical storage equipment. Monitor and record the temperatures of all hot and cold holding equipment and maintain the safe storage and issue of cleaning materials in accordance with COSHH regulations.
- Ensure that a clean laundered uniform is worn at all times.
- Undertake other related duties that may be requested by management due to the nature and character of the post.
- Manage the departmental invoices and provide monthly budget information to fellow account holders
- Maintain the departmental IT requirements in conjunction with the college IT officers. Help to develop new IT systems as needed.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The following criteria are appropriate to this post:
Knowledge and experience:
- Domestic kitchen experience.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Manual Handling Certificate.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel.
Personal skills and abilities:
- Reliable and well presented.
- Methodical and thorough in all tasks undertaken.
- Ability to achieve and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to tasks.
- Ability to work as a team member.
