Job Description – Caps Parent Group Leader

Based: / Based within BLF’s services across Greater Manchester

MAIN AIMS OF THE POST:
Providing therapeutic support service for parents and carers, with children under 5, delivering Incredible Years evidence based parent programmes to improve the parent/child relationships, the social, emotional and physical development of the children and the economic well-being of the family.

Main duties

  1. To deliver a range of groups, sessions and interventions to facilitate parents’ understanding and awareness of their children’s emotional, social and physical needs and improve their parenting skills.

  1. To contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of interventions and contribute to regular audits to maintain high standards of service delivery.

  1. To ensure the safety, well being and healthy development of children is prioritised through effective observation and assessments and by following Big Life Safeguarding procedures and guidelines.

  1. To work collaboratively with health visiting teams and outreach workers to support delivery of the Early Years New Delivery Model.

  1. To support coordinated care and support for parents through liaison with Health, Social Services, Education and other statutory and voluntary agencies, attending relevant meetings as necessary.

  1. To keep records of your work and adhere to confidentiality, information sharing protocols and provide monitoring information to Health (CAMHS) and Big Life as required.

  1. To implement the principles of Big Life’s Equal Opportunities Policy in every aspect of their work and positively promote the principles of the policy amongst colleagues, service users and other members if the community.

  • Experience of working with children, parents and families.

  • Minimum of level 3 or equivalent qualification in early years, community development or health and social care.

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy to keep accurate up to date records which may be publicly distributed.
