Job Description – Business and Relationship Manager

Full time post of 37.5 hours per week

2.Job Purpose:

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will:

  • Promote a positive, high profile image for WECIL; developing strategic connections and productive relationships with external stakeholders
  • Help to shape the future direction of WECIL, identifying and initiating new ideas, demonstrating vision and creative, flexible leadership.
  • Oversee key development projects, with a view to maximising their income generating potential

3.Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Gather and report on market intelligence in relation to key business areas – trends, competitor analysis, service user feedback, performance data and pricing
  • Sit on the strategy subgroup and contribute to future plans including the implementation of the 2015-2019 strategy.
  • Identify and pursue collaboration opportunities and support local CIL development
  • Keep up to date with developments in legislation, policy and best practice and note implications for service development
  • In conjunction with WECIL’s senior management team analyse data and develop costing models to ensure services are accurately priced and resourced and WECIL provides value for money
  • Identify and apply for funding to enable WECIL to develop its work and to widen its funding streams thus increasing sustainability
  • Develop opportunities/services that enable WECIL to generate unrestricted income
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of WECIL; network with relevant agencies, represent WECIL at meetings and conferences as required and develop useful working contacts
  • Assist in the formulation of marketing strategies
  • General

  • Act at all times within WECIL’s Rules, Policies, Procedures, Standing Orders and Financial Regulations and any other statutory requirements

  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities in line with the skill level of the role, to respond to changing priorities and make sure that customer needs and business objectives are met.
  • Staff Management
  • Have direct responsibility for supervising and supporting all staff listed, including recruitment, induction and, where appropriate, probationary assessments, regular supervision, performance reviews and annual appraisals, in order to maximise potential

4. Education/Qualification Standard:

Required:

Minimum 5 GCSE passes (or equivalent) including English and Maths

5.Knowledge /Experience Required for Role:

Required:

  • Highly developed Strategic/business planning experience
  • Direct Line Management experience, with the ability to support, delegate and where appropriate performance manage.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining mutually beneficial business relationships
  • Experience of recognising opportunities, planning provision and implementing change

  • Excellent Literacy and IT skills and ability to produce documents and reports for external stakeholders to a high standard (inc. use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate
  • Ability to recognise opportunities, harness information; showing judgement, intelligence and common sense
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and entrepreneurial ability
  • Professional approach and image, demonstrating integrity and credibility and the ability to act as an ambassador for WECIL
  • A self- starter who motivate and can work on their own initiative.
  • Self-awareness and a commitment to self-development

Desirable:

  • Awareness of the context and operating environment of voluntary sector provision
  • Knowledge and understanding of generating income within the charity sector through social enterprise and commercial ventures
  • Experience of writing funding applications
  • Experience of developing corporate support partnerships
