Job Description: Associate Systems Support Analyst

Summary:

The purpose of the Application Administrator within the BSS group is to maintain, monitor, and manage a suite of business critical applications (3rd party and in-house developed) within a fast paced support environment. The Administrator is expected to assist in the development and deployment of applications, configure processes and application settings, manage system interactions, and resolve day to day application issues.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills along with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience in UNIX and Linux. Applicants are expected to be independent problem solvers who are self-directed and self-starting.

Job Functions:

à  Install/upgrade and configure applications within a UNIX/Linux environment

à  Maintain and troubleshoot application issues including performance concerns

à  Monitor performance through a suite of tools available including application logs, Perl scripts, audit trails, and proactive monitoring applications

à  Respond to user escalations and concerns through Remedy tickets and direct calls

à  On-call support after business hours

à  Consult with internal and 3rd party development teams to design new products

à  Coordinate with internal and 3rd party development teams to work through issues and provide end user solutions

à  Develop interfaces and integrate diverse components through programming, scripting and other methods.

à  Maintain detailed knowledge of server products in the marketplace, including hardware and software such as operating systems, security features, peripherals, applications, and local area networking technologies

à  Work with other staff in project teams, including serving in a leading role from time to time

à  Assist with the creation of test cases

à  Support internal and external departments with application questions.

à  Assist with database update and reporting as needed

à  Assist with budget process including planning and architecture

à  Participate in conference calls and meeting as needed

à  Actively participate in department meetings and department training.

à  Other duties as assigned

Education:

à  Bachelor’s degree in related field

Qualifications:

à  0-2 years experience in operating within a service organization

à  1-2 years experience with Unix and Linux

à  0-2 experience with Perl for scripting in UNIX and Windows environments

à  0-2 experience with Relational Databases; Oracle and SQL Server preferred

à  Familiarity with modern programming languages

à  A basic understanding of billing systems is a plus

à  Strong customer service focus including an emphasis on customer satisfaction

à  Must demonstrate strong communication skills - both written and oral

à  Flexibility to adapt and respond to changing needs and requirements

à  Strong organizational skills including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple activities.

à  Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently

à  Punctual, Regular and consistent attendance
