Student Government Report – Mr. Ayres, Principal

SGA sponsored the Homecoming Dance this year. The theme was “Shake, Rattle, and Roll-Shake the Rattles off the Rattles. There were 175 students that attended. A DHS alum, Johnny Sanchez was the Deejay. The students had a lot of fun. It was a very successful event.

The next event will be the Cupcake Walk for United Way.

Shared Resource: How to access online textbooks.

Ms. Darmody shared how students can access an online textbook. Students can log-in to their student portal. Students need to click on etextbooks at the bottom of the screen, click on course schedule, and then click on the blue hyperlink for the course they want to access. All core courses have an online textbook accessible to students. Ms. Darmody is going to create directions for students on how to access their student portal in the near future.

Banned books is this month. Students will participate in a Tiger Time activity about Banned Books.

Testing UpdateStudents who have not passed the Algebra I EOC have been taking Algebra I EOC retakes in September. Students either take the NGSSS or FSA Algebra I EOC depending on which cohort they are in.

DHS kicked off Homecoming week on September 10, 2016 with a parade. Homecoming week was successful and our students participated in many of the weekly events. Our football team beat Belleview High School.

Our Rookie Teacher of the Year- Melanie Martin

Teacher of the Year- Erin Darmody

School Related Employee of the Year- Helen Smith

The Varsity football team is 3-0.

Both of our golf teams are off to a great start.

Volleyball team has won one game this year against Eastside.

Swimming is off to a great start. We are very proud of their participation.

DHS is an ACT testing site. ACT testing was on September 10, 2016. The upcoming ACT will be on October 22, 2016.

Open House was on September. It was a successful event.

Progress reports went home on Friday, September 16, 2016.

It is encouraged for parents to get on the Parent Portal. Parents can receive weekly emails about their students’ progress.
