Jesus Received the Holy Ghost

Jesus’ body was a temple – a body, Lamb, tabernacle prepared for sacrifice;

Our bodies are also temples for the Holy Ghost (1 Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19). If all the “born again” sons and daughters must receive the Seal/Anointing (born from above), would not the firstborn have to come the same way (Romans 8:29)?

John 2:18-21Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up; But he spake of the temple of his body.

Heb. 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

Gen. 22:8,16 God will provide Himself a sacrifice (prefigure of Jesus)

Heb. 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Heb. 9:11 Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

God, in type, fills His temple with His Spirit, presence

I Ki. 8:10-13 Solomon built this temple

Ex. 40:33-38 Moses built this temple

John 1:14 Word made flesh and “DWELT” (defined: tabernacled!) among us

Man born of sexual desire could not be a sacrifice without blemish, for the sinful nature is passed down through intercourse. But Jesus bypassed sexual union and was conceived of the Holy Ghost. He was our Kinsman Redeemer

Ps. 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Job. 14:1 Man [that is] born of a woman [is] of few days, and full of trouble.

Matt. 1:20 for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost

Rev. 5:3-4 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

Rev. 5:9 they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Sin dwells in man born of woman

Rom 7:14-21 but I am carnal, sold under sin; I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing; it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

That “temple” of Jesus’ body had to be anointed, quickened for service, given power

Isa. 42:1 & Matt. 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, [in whom] my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost, power; God was with him. [God was with him, even IN him as Jesus himself said in John 14:10]

John 1:32-33 I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. upon thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed

Lk. 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Lk. 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor

Lk. 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

John 3:34 for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him [See Col. 1:19, 2:9 – fullness in Him. Godhead was in Jesus, not Jesus in the Godhead!]

Matt. 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Matt. 9:8 But when the multitudes saw [it], they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

John 6:27 Labour for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. [Same definition of “sealed” as Ephesians 4:30; remember that he was the firstborn among many brethren, so no doubt the rest of the brethren must be sealed the same way;]

Jesus’ Baptism

Acts 1:21,22 Jesus had witnesses, disciples with Him from His baptism

Matt. 3:13-17And Jesus went up straightway out of the water: he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Mk. 1:9-12 he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

Lk. 3:21-22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him

John 1:29-36 John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Holy Spirit is power

2 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Pet. 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness

Lk. 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Rom. 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

I Thes. 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance;

Micah 3:8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

Rom. 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

I Cor. 2:4 And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God; Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Jesus baptizes with the Spirit and fire

Matt. 3:11 he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:

Disciples would be baptized with the baptism Jesus already had!

Matt. 20:22-23 Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

This Spirit baptism was different than the “baptism” of Jesus’ death he spoke of

Lk. 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

Rom. 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
