Jesus Christ: Source of Our Salvation Semester Project
Your semester project will be based on one Gospel (either Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) and consist of 5 parts. Parts I-IV are due on Friday, May 5 and are to be typed and printed. Part V is due on Tuesday, May 9 (periods 1 and 3) or Wednesday, May 10 (periods 4, 5, and 6). The total project will be worth 10% of your semester grade.
Part I (35 pts)
Read the entire Gospel. In your own words and in paragraph form (each event should be a separate paragraph) describe what the Gospel says about the following 7 events from Jesus’ life:
1)Jesus’ birth
2)The temptation of Jesus
3)The call of the first disciples
4)Miracles of Jesus- be sure to include examples of physical healings, exorcisms, nature miracles, raisings from the dead (see p. 98 in your textbook)
5)Last Supper
6)Jesus’ arrest, before Caiaphas (high priest), Sanhedrin, Pontius Pilate, crucifixion and death
7)Jesus’ Resurrection and post-Resurrection appearances
*Note- if an event is not in the Gospel, write that in your report.
Part II (30 pts)
Pick 10 quotes/sayings of Jesus from the Gospel you chose that are meaningful to you. Write out the quote and cite (book chapter: verse) it. Then, write in your own words what the quotes means for you in your life and why it is meaningful to you. (2 sentences minimum per quote)
Part III (20 pts)
In two paragraphs minimum describe the part(s) of the Gospel that you find difficult to understand and/or live out (put into practice in your life daily)? Why do you find these difficult to live out? Are there statements of Jesus that confuse you?
Part IV (20 pts)
What do you wish the Gospel included about the life of Jesus? What do you still want to know about Jesus’ life that is not covered in the Gospel you read? (2 paragraphs minimum)
Part V (40 pts)
Pick your favorite part of the Gospel you choose. Create an artistic depiction of the passage. Identify (cite book, chapter and verse) the passage. Examples of an artistic depiction include: powerpoint, video, picture collage, song/rap, modern short story. Part V presentations will take place on Tuesday, May 9 (periods 1 and 3) or Wednesday, May 10 (periods 4, 5, and 6) and should take 2-3 minutes (presentation worth 10 points).
*Notes*
- Parts I-IV must be typed and printed
- Spelling and grammar count. Be sure to read aloud/proof what you wrote. I would be happy to help proof any writing.
- Parts I-IV are to be completed in your own words. Do not copy from the Bible without proper citation (book chapter: verse). Do not copy from another student. Copying is cheating and violates the 7th Commandment.
