Jenkintown’s Patricia “Pat” S. Scott Honored by Abington PAL
Rydal Park resident recognized for extraordinary generosity
JENKINTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA (November 9, 2015): Abington PAL, a recreation-oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily upon athletics to help kids achieve success, recently honored Rydal Park resident, Patricia “Pat” S. Scott, for her extraordinary generosity and philanthropic efforts.
“We at Abington PAL are so grateful that Pat counts us among the organizations she values,” said Law Klein, Abington PAL Board President. “Pat Scott is a true philanthropist in our community, and that philanthropy serves as a model for all of us.”

In addition to serving on the Abington PAL Board, a position she held for 10 years, Scott has served on Holy Redeemer Hospital’s Drueding Center Board, as well as supported the Innovators Circle at Abington Memorial Hospital, now Abington Jefferson Health. In 2012, Scott was honored with the Philanthropist of the Year Award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a 1976 recipient of the Boy Scout Award, along with her late husband Joe.
“Providing hope is one of the hallmarks for this year’s PAL honorees. Mrs. Pat Scott has been a special ‘Guardian Angel’ to PAL from its earliest days,” adds Chief William J. Kelly, Abington PAL Board of Directors.
Scott’s charitableness has not slowed down. Scott continues to serve on various committees at Rydal Park and frequently knits supplies, such as newborn hats and blanket squares, for the Medical Center and Drueding Center.
“Giving back to the community has always been incredibly meaningful to my family and me,” says Scott, who was instrumental in the development of the Joseph C. Scott Medical Center at Rydal Park, named in memory of her late husband.
The Abington Police Athletic League (PAL) is a non-profit organization organized to prevent juvenile crime and violence by providing programs encompassing education, training and resources to children.
