Jeffrey S. Kreutzer, Ph.D., ABPP will present:

“Practical Approaches to Working with Families after Brain Injury and Other Neurological Disorders”

There is little doubt that family members often serve as primary caregivers after brain injury. This day-long seminar is intended to help clinicians more effectively evaluate and address the post injury needs of family members. The day will begin with an overview of acute and long-term outcomes after injury with reference to neurobehavioral, neuropsychological, and vocational functioning. Following will be a presentation on how brain injury affects family members, particularly wives and mothers, who most often serve a primary caregiving role. The afternoon will begin with a presentation on working effectively with complex situations, families, and clients, emphasizing case examples and principles of practice. The day will end with a discussion of the Brain Injury Family Intervention (BIFI) developed at VirginiaCommonwealthUniversity over the last decade. Case examples and video will be used throughout to illustrate key points and provide opportunities for discussion.
