INTRODUCTION:

Arrow Material Services strives to be the premier transloading and materials handling company. AMS load and unload railcars, trucks and tanks, focusing primarily on the handling of dry and liquid bulk materials (high value, hazardous, and non-hazardous).

Our customer service representatives prepare shipping documents and operate inventory management systems. Our operators/loaders operate pumps, conveyors, cranes, front-end loaders and other transloading equipment. AMS operates according to Regulatory, Customer and our own operational procedures (SOP’s) in a “controlled document” atmosphere.

The Operator/Loaderposition requires the individual to perform transfers of commodities, conduct inspections utilizing checklists while donning proper personal protective equipment in accordance with the facility’sprocess-oriented environment according to AMS requirements with one-hundred percent accuracy with their safety continually in mind. Purpose

The Operator/Loader will comply with AMS standards and to the four core values of safety, quality, honesty and efficiency to ensure their safety and to perform duties in compliance with operations, equipment maintenance as well as regulatory compliance and Shipper/Customer requirements.

Quality and Customer Service Responsibilities
  • To be at work on time and able to follow AMS policies and procedures for tardiness and paid time off.
  • To ensure Shipper Operational Procedures are followed.
  • For the Quality process to report non-conformances and to ensure compliance to DOT Regulations and AMS policies and procedures.
  • To understand and comply with Shipper/Customer confidentiality when discussing Shipper accounts.
  • To follow the facility’s verification standard procedure.
  • To participate in daily Safety/Quality Briefings.
  • To perform housekeeping duties to include bathrooms, break rooms, trash, weed control, washing equipment, shoveling, shop areas, painting, etc.

Transfers, Inspections and Equipment Maintenance Responsibilities
  • To understand specific inspections of railcars/trailers/containers and transferring of the facility’scommodities from start to finish using various provided equipment types.
  • To comply with cross-training to be able to perform duties of another Shipper’s commodity requirements.
  • For equipmentpreventive maintenance with daily documentation and if applicable monthly/annual maintenance.
  • To wear personal protective equipment and to use proper tools as needed/required for work that needs to be done as dictated by AMS.
  • To climb up and down railcars, trailers as needed utilizing the three-point contact technique, also able to lift, carry, push/pull weights up to 60 pounds and to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and stand for extended periods of time.
  • To work outside in all types of weather throughout the year.
  • To work overtime as needed and to work to meet a Shipper’s/Customer’s schedule.
  • Have basic math skills.

Employee Training Responsibilities
  • To be able to read AMS policies/procedures, Shipper/Customer procedures(SOPs) and to take written examinations in English.
  • To comply withtraining given for regulatory and safety/quality required training subjects applicable to the facility.
  • To comply with training given to conduct transfers, inspections, preventive maintenance and other duties in accordance with AMS/Shipper/Customer work instructions.
  • To follow a checklist and to fill out the checklist properly after proper training.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • To respond to an incident to the extent of the training received with practiced Mock Drills.
  • For compliance of all Federal, State and Local regulatory standards. (SPCC Plans, Storm Water Plans, Air Permits, Waste, Proper Bills of Ladings, water, etc.)
  • For the safety of him/her, other employees, vendors, drivers and visitors by giving a pre-transfer discussion/Safety Briefing when conducting work to be done as required by AMS.
  • For personal hygiene and housekeeping responsibilities.

Communications and ReportingResponsibilities
(Written and Verbal)
  • To properly fill out checklists as provided.
  • To follow the verification procedure verbally and written as per the facility’s operational work instruction.
  • To report all maintenance problems, equipment damage or breakage, misuse of equipment, operational problems, and non-conformances to the Supervisor.
  • To report any vandalism or breach of entry.
  • To communicate all incidents such as:
  • Injury
  • Near misses
  • Spills
  • Contaminations
  • Service Failures
  • Equipment Failures
  • Non-Conformance / product integrity
