AGENDA -- MINUTES

·  Welcome (Tobin)

o  Reminder of Make up days: Mon. April 25 and Fri. May 27

·  MAP Update (Fisch)

o  Spring MAP results

§  Winter to Spring results were favorable overall:

·  Math 6th grade went from 91st percentile to 94th percentile

·  Math 7th grade remained the same in the 98th percentile

·  Math 8th grade remained the same in the 99th percentile

·  Reading 6th grade remained in the 97th percentile

·  Reading 7th grade went from 96th percentile to 98th percentile

·  Reading 8th grade went from 98th percentile to 99th percentile

o  Course Lottery

§  All of the Project Lead the Way courses (new to the school next year) have more student requests than available seats

·  A lottery of pulling students’ names will be done to determine those students who will not be registered for those courses

o  Testing Date Changes

§  Our testing window has changed due to snow/ice days makeup days

·  Testing will now be:

·  May26th– Social Studies NCFE

·  May27th– CTE (B day students; administered during regular class times)

·  May31st– World Languages EOY

·  June1st– Reading EOG

·  June2nd– Math EOG

·  June3rd– Science NCFE (6th/7th) and EOG (8th)

·  June6th– Math 1 and Math 2 EOC

·  June7th– CTE (A day students; administered during regular class times)

·  June 8th -- Make-up Testing

·  June 9th -- Make-up Testing

·  Prinicipal’s Update

o  Dress Code Draft

o  Revised to be more aligned with feeder high schools

o  Enrollment, Growth, and Staffing

o  We’ve gained 2 teachers for next year and they will be used in 6th grade due to projected cohort size

o  Title 9: Student to Student Harrassment

o  District wide process that we need to inform parents of harassed student that they may press charges against the harassing student

o  JMR MS has not had any of these incidents occur

o  AdvancedEd

o  JMR MS was included in a site visit by the organization

o  CMS as a whole has received accreditation

o  U.S. Performance Center

o  Currently in the rezoning phase

o  If approved, a schedule for 16-17 sports teams’ practices and games has been created (use of South Charlotte MS fields)

o  Blue Ribbon School to Watch

o  Our application has been submitted

o  Should hear in September or October

o  Picture Company Selection

o  Will begin using Metro, a local photographer

·  PTA Update (Knafelz)

o  Have money left over to roll into the “educational support” budget

·  Closing (Tobin)

o  SLT Membership 2016-17

o  Fisch, Tobin, Dotson, Knafelz, and Smith off??

o  Some seats will be saved for rising 6th grade parents
