January 18, 2018 Grade 3 Email Blast

Dear Families,

I can’t believe this winter we’ve been having! Another wild week is almost over. Please make sure you are sending in the attached permission slip for our upcoming in-school field trip.

Here is a look at what’s coming up next week:

Next Week’s Objectives:

Math: Students will continue our unit on fractions! We will work on creating whole numbers as fractions using different manipulatives.

Reading:Students will describe examples of cause and effect in informational texts and work on compare two informational texts on the same topic.

Writing:Students will finish drafting their informational essays on how a piece of technology has changed. All students will begin our final opinion paragraph.

Science:Students will make ice cream using heating and cooling technology!

Important Dates:

January 19th– MAP-R testing in the morning

January 25th– Early Release day

January 26th– No school!

January 29th– Mad Science in-school field trip

Important Notes:

  • Please return the attached permission slip for our upcoming Mad Science In-School Field Trip!
  • Please make sure to pack your child ahealthysnack. We have snack every day at 2:00.
  • Please make sure you are signing your child’s SAB (Student Assignment Book) each night.

Look-Fors in your child’s Friday Folder:

  • Graded work
  • Goal Setting Sheet – These are completed on Fridays.Please review your student’s goal and sign each week. If a student meets their goal the following week, their teacher will initial under the “Did you meet your goal?” column.

(1) Join us at the 2018 Woodlin Winter Dance: Luau Beach Party!

* When: Saturday, February 3, 2018

* Time: 6 pm to 8 pm

* Where: Woodlin Elementary School Gymnasium

* Theme: Woodlin's 1st Hawaiian Luau Beach Party

* Attire: floral or beach-themed clothing is great (but please no bathing suits)

* Activities: dancing, light snacks and lots of surprises!

* All children must have a chaperone at the dance at all times.

* If you’d like to help out “day of” the dance or have any questions please contact Kristi Delovitch r Mandy Whitman .

* Mark your calendar for our annual Silent Auction -- see your Woodlin friends and get to know new ones at this adults-only event with music, food, drinks, raffles, and lots of great silent auction items. More information coming soon!
