Jan 3rd: A Tribute to Ken Lee- Ken wrote the screenplay, produced and directed, "Mothers Day" - a 10 minute drama. He also produced, "The Nautical Novice" - a 17 minute comedy. Bob Bennett will show these two films - a fitting (and entertaining) tribute to Ken who passed away in November.

“Severn and Somme" - Annual Trophy Winners, Diana Taylor and Anthea Page will show their film, "Severn and Somme" and invite discussion about its production.

Making Jackals: Three takes on the experience of shooting a micro-budget, feature-length drama in and around Bristol.

Feb 14th: The ISDEC CODE - Stewart Mackay will show his new film The ISDEC CODE and discuss its production.

KANAMAI - John Woolnough will show his film shot last summer for the Kanamai Development Trust.

March 20th: - First screening of “The Man who wasn’t There” A film directed by Malcolm Stephens

First showing of three Headway draft promotional Films (the brain injury charity), for discussion.

April 3rd: - Meeting Cancelled

April 17th - The 2012 BFVS Annual Challenge (“An embarrassing body”) - We will split into groups to plan to film a script (or theme). These will be shown and reviewed at our meeting on November 6th. Full details will be available on the night.

May 1st: - Pete Heaven will relate his experience of editing AVCHD in Pinnacle Studio v14, and give tips on filming a StreetParty.

Simon Rathbone (a possible new member) will show two or three short films and explain why he is so enthusiastic about film-making.

May 15th: - Documentary Filmmaking. Gordon Young andBob Bennett discuss how they approachtheir documentaryfilmmaking and show excerpts from their award-winning productions. If you're considering making a documentary, then come along and learn from these two prizewinners.

June 5th:- No Meeting Tonight – Bank Holiday

June 19th:- The 2012 BFVS Annual Challenge –The clubroom will be closed this evening as filming of the challenges will be outside and not in the vicinity of the club.

July 3rd - Camera Master Class - An evening looking at what your camera can do for you. Here is a chance to ask others with more experience, for help to learn more about your camera.

July 17th – We will be showing a comedy feature about filming-making called “Ready when you are, Mr. McGill”

Aug 7th: - This evening will include up to three short presentations by club members on a variety of topics. (JB, DW & SA).

Aug 21st: - Mark Edmonds and Alan Stentifordof “Richer Sounds” willdemonstratethe types of kit now available for home cinema and sound systems, and show how to set these up properly. This will be followed by the showing of the final three Headway promotional videos, shown earlier in the year in draft form.

Sept 4th: - Sharon Stiles – Sharon was co-founder of Applecart Productions, and is now working with Films at 59 on productions which include The Hairy Bikers. She will cover the challenges and techniques of file-based editing, and show us some of her work.

Sept 18th: -"A New Approach to Documentaries” Presented by Roger Pyne

Oct 2nd: - New BBC 3D Work. Andy Corp (BBC Production Executive for Innovation) will talk about the challenges of 3D production at the BBC. 3D specs provided. Please note that this meeting may be held at the BBC – Confirmation is still to be received.

Oct 16th - The Annual Trophy Competition
Any subject, no limit in duration (but we reserve the right to show an extract). This can be a group or individual effort. Prize £50 .The Ray Buckland Trophy for Composition will also be awarded. This year’s competition will be judged by Keith Sheather, a former BBC Film Producer of “The Victorian Kitchen Garden”.

Nov 6th: - The 2012 BFVS Annual Challenge"- The Results" We review the results of our efforts from earlier in the year.

Nov 20th: - This evening looks at editing software with members getting "hands on" experience of their own and other software packages.

The Society aims to help all who use film or video as a means of personal expression. Constructive criticism is encouraged and beginners are especially welcome to come along to one or two meetings without any obligation to join.
