October 2014

Dear Parent

IN-SERVICE DAYS AND HOLIDAYS

Pupils will finish for the October holiday on Wednesday 8th October. Thursday 9th and Friday 10th are In-Service Days for staff. The school will re-open on Monday 20th October.

CONSULTATION MEETING RE PROPOSED NEW SCHOOL – WEDNESDAY 22nd OCTOBER

A Consultation Meeting will take place in Vale of Leven Academy at 7 o’clock. This is a meeting for the parents of Jamestown, Haldane and St. Kessog’s Primaries and I would urge all parents to attend to make their views known, ask questions and seek clarification on aspects which are of concern.

OPEN EVENING

Our Open Evening will be held on Thursday 30th October from 7-8 pm. Parents and pupils are invited to visit every classroom to see the excellent work on display in all areas of the school. Tea and biscuits, and juice for the children, will be provided.

PARENT COUNCIL HALLOWE’EN PARTY

The Parent Council Hallowe’en Party will be held in St. Kessog’s Hall in Balloch from 7 pm on Friday 31st October. A letter will be sent home on Monday 20th October. It will have a tear-off slip which should be returned to the school the following day with the relevant amount of money. TICKETS USUALLY SELL OUT IN A DAY, SO PLEASE SEND YOUR REQUEST IN PROMPTLY!

PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

All parents will receive an Interim Pupil Report and a print-out of their child’s attendance record prior to the Parent/Teacher Interviews which will be held on Thursday 6th November. The print-out will list all absences and latecoming for the term and will note attendance as a percentage. Our target is to achieve 96% attendance and we hope that you will work with us to ensure that we achieve it.

TELEPHONE CALLS TO OUR SCHOOL OFFICE

Mrs. Campbell is available to answer the telephone from 8.30 am each morning. However, our Breakfast Club Supervisors can hear the telephone ringing long before 8.30 am but they are unable to answer telephone calls from the Dining Room, where the Breakfast Club is held. Please telephone after 8.30 am!

It seems no time at all since we started the new school year in August. All of our pupils have settled well into their new classrooms and are working hard. If you do have any concerns or queries, however, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Allyson C. Tucker
