Mr. Donnelly is designing and writing a new deployment method for deploying Oracle Siebel Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software in four separate environments at GAC.

Mr. Donnelly’s tasks include:

  • Deciphering the dozens of scripts currently being used for deploying Oracle Siebel CRM at GAC;
  • Writing a single new PowerShell script that will:
  • Present a simple graphical interface for the administrator to run each section of the script;
  • Provide feedback to the administrator as each step is completed;
  • Install and configure all Siebel CRM components on different servers, or all on one server, depending on the environment chosen;
  • Encrypt passwords used during the install and remove any clear text passwords from the configuration files;
  • Provide error control and test for success on each step before continuing to the next;
  • Write a simple to understand log file to document each step as it completes;
  • Write any failed command to the log file, pause the script, and present a message box to the administrator. Thus giving the administrator a chance to correct the underlying issue and resume the script where it left off.
  • Providing full documentation on the use of the PowerShell script, explaining every step and command it uses.
  • Providing knowledge transfer and training to the Siebel team at GAC.

Project title: System Center 2012 Migration

Duration: 1 month (September 2015 – October 2015)

Mr. Donnelly was responsible for theplanning and the migration of the current SCCM 2007 environment at the NCC to SCCM 2012.

Mr. Donnelly’s tasks included:

  • Providing SCCM 2012 design documentation and step-by-step build guides suitable for the environment at NCC;
  • Installing and fully configuring SCCM 2012;
  • Building, testing and deploying a new operating system image suitable for a variety of desktop and laptop workstations;
  • Migrating the existing SCCM 2007 environment, including all collections, software packages, and task sequencesto SCCM 2012;
  • Configuring Windows Software Update Service (WSUS) through SCCM 2012;
  • Integrating SCCM 2012 with Active Directory (AD) and Exchange Server 2013;
  • Providing knowledge transfer and training to the SCCM team at the NCC.

All this was successfully completed in less than a month.

Senior SCCM and SCOM 2012 expert – Contracting through MapleSoft

Project title: System Center Design and Deployment

Duration: 4 months (January 2015 – April 2015)

Mr. Donnelly was responsible for providing national direction on the architecture, design, and implementation for both SCCM 2012 and SCOM 2012. Deployment of SCCM 2012 ensures that SSC administrators are able to manage large groups of computers, as well as the deployment and security of numerous devices and applications across their enterprise. SCOM 2012 provides SSC with an interface to monitor the overall health and performance of computer systems. It will alert administrators on the status, configuration, operation, and security of each of the systems.

Mr. Donnelly’s tasks included:

  • Provided SCCM and SCOM architecture design documentation and step-by-step build guides suitable for the large scale environment at SSC;
  • Integrated SCCM and SCOM with other products such as Active Directory (AD), Citrix and Microsoft Terminal Servers;
  • Designed, tested and built an application approval solution using System Center Orchestrator, PowerShell, the SCCM application catalog and Exchange Server 2013;
  • Used the Microsoft Deployment Kit and PowerShell to build Hydration Kits to create robust testing environments:
  • This will allow the client to redeploy whole testing labs in hours instead of weeks or months.
  • Worked with SCCM Engineering team to help improve their current environment and evolve the way they do business;
  • Migrated the existing SCCM 2007 environment to SCCM 2012;
  • Deployed and configured SCOM 2012:
  • Created custom SCOM 2012 management packs to appropriately monitor the operating systems and networking components of hundreds of Windows 2003/2012 servers and thousands of Windows 7 and 8.1 clients,
  • Integrated SCOM with Microsoft Exchange 2013 to send escalating notifications. The first notification to engineers responsible to troubleshoot any issues. The second notification to their supervisors if the issue was not resolved within the configured time limits; and
  • Provided advanced troubleshooting for SCCM 2007/2012, SQL 2008/2012, AD and Windows 7.

Project title: Mediaroom –Support and Deployment Engineer

Duration: 7+ years (February 2007–October 2014)

Mediaroom, previously known as Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), is considered by many to be the most complex system ever developed by Microsoft. Mr. Donnelly supported several North American and European customers deploying the software. Each Mediaroom environment typically included hundreds of Windows servers, dozens of SQL clusters and several hundred thousand clients.

Ericsson recently bought Mediaroom from Microsoft and Mr. Donnelly deployed the first new Mediaroom lab for Ericsson worldwide in Dublin, Ireland.

Mr. Donnelly was responsible for:

  • Provided advanced troubleshooting of all aspects of Windows servers, IIS web services, SQL servers and Mediaroom servers and clients;
  • Deployed, managed and upgraded Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012 servers;
  • Customized, deployed and upgraded clients:
  • Starting from a generic Mediaroom client, fully customized it with customer-provided graphics and menu items, including all French translations; and
  • Documented the hundreds of changes between each generic and customer-customized client version.
  • Provided advanced troubleshooting and configuration of SQL server connections, SQL clustering and SQL 2012 AlwaysOn Availability Groups, replication, security and stored procedures;
  • Designed and implemented full end-to-end Microsoft PKI solutions to support Mediaroom servers and clients:
  • This included installing and configuring a Root Certificate Authority (CA) with a Hardware Security Module (HSM), multiple layers of Issuing CAs, as well as deploying several types of certificates to servers and clients.
  • Wrote, tested and deployed Automated Deployment Services (ADS) task sequences to deploy, upgrade and manage hundreds of servers;
  • Installed and used SCCM to create and deploy bare metal server images:
  • Wrote and automated many task sequences for upgrading the server operating systems, installing and patching software and drivers;
  • Deployed and configured Windows Software Update Services (WSUS) to manage the patching of all operating systems in the Mediaroom environment;
  • Deployed and configured SCOM to monitor and troubleshoot server health;

Mr. Donnelly designed a secure and parallel SCCM 2012 system to take over all Windows patching from the existing SCCM 2007 system. Deployment of this product ensures that Environment Canada administrators are able to manage large groups of computers, as well as the deployment and security of numerous devices and applications across their enterprise.

Mr. Donnelly’s tasks included:

  • Validated the plans for environment Canada to immediately work on its SCCM 2007 infrastructure and plan for the switch to SCCM 2012;
  • Advised, guided or provided clarification to the project on the findings of IT security risk and the impact they have on the design or implementation of SCCM 2012;
  • Evaluated and documented the known system risks;
  • Documented proposed recommendations to effectively manage the identified risks;
  • Delivered written work plan identifying scope, timelines, deliverables, and dependencies for a secure SCCM 2012 implementation at Environment Canada; and

Technical Architect and Senior Consultant – Contracting through Titus

Project title: VA Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) Deployment

Duration: 14 months(October2005–December 2006)

The US Department of VA required a team of resources to participate in the deployment of Microsoft RMS. As a Technical Architect on this assignment, Mr. Donnelly was involved in the design, planning, and deployment of the RMS solution. This security tool supports 250,000 users across the United States, spans hundreds of Active Directory domains and ensures the prevention of unauthorized access to data.

Mr. Donnelly was responsible for:

  • Architected and implemented the RMS proof-of-concept deployment;
  • Architected and implemented a fully functional and fault-tolerant RMS “production pilot” at the client site; This pilot is on the production network and designed to stress-test the system with over one million licenses issued from the RMS infrastructure over the course of one week;
  • Architected, designed, and planned the full production RMS deployment for the client’s 250,000 users;
  • Provided guidance to the SQL server team regarding RMS SQL requirements and database growth expectations, and provided a SQL script to keep RMS functional after they upgraded to SQL 2005;
  • Researched and wrote planning documents necessary for the successful completion of the project including:
  • VA RMS Technical Build document;
  • VA RMS Availability plan;
  • VA RMS Capacity plan and spread sheet to calculate loads;
  • VA RMS Deployment and External Access plan;
  • VA RMS Monitoring plan;
  • VA RMS Support plan;
  • VA RMS Backup and Recovery plan;
  • VA RMS Communications plan;
  • VA RMS Operations plan; and
  • VA RMS Security plan.
  • Design and deployed an Active Directory Group Policy Object (GPO) used to manage the RMS client settings and deploy the RMS client and the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer (RMA) to workstations;
  • Secured the RMS deployment to ensure a controlled roll-out;
  • Using VB script and Wise for Windows Installer, developed an application to remove bits of an RMS with SP2 BETA client build that the subsequent build provided by Microsoft didn’t cleanly remove; Deployed this custom application via GPO to all affected users;
  • Wrote the custom registry files and assisted in writing the logon script necessary to modify the RMS client settings; Deployed these via GPO;
  • Configured a Rights Policy Template and configured a GPO using third-party software to automate the protection of sensitive email messages using RMS; and
  • Tested, deployed, and upgraded through every major build of the RMS Server and RMS client applications including:
  • RMS version 1.0 BETA;
  • RMS version 1.0;

Project title: Tracfone RMS deployment

Duration: 4 months (September–December 2006)

Mr. Donnelly designed and deployed a Microsoft Rights Management Server (RMS) solution for the company’s two locations. This also included installing and configuring SQL 2005 for use with RMS. This security instrument was installed to control, monitor and limit access to corporate documents including e-mail, Word documents, excel files, PowerPoint presentations, web pages, etc. The solution allows RMS administrators to create and deploy templates that define rights based on groups, environment, conditions, time periods, etc. using encryption methods that is stored in the documents.

Mr. Donnelly’s tasks included:

  • Interviewed the client to compile information necessary for a successful RMS deployment including Active Directory structure, Network topology, messaging system, and expected loads;
  • Designed the complete RMS solution and provided all documentation and build guides;
  • Configured Windows Server 2003 operating system for RMS;
  • Installed and configured RMS Server;
  • Installed and configured SQL 2005 for use with RMS;
  • Collaborated with client security team regarding required DNS and firewall settings;
  • Designed and deployed an Active Directory Group Policy Object (GPO) to deploy the RMS client and the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer (RMA) and configure the client workstations;

Technical Architect and Project Lead – Direct contract

Project title: Microsoft SharePoint Server 2003 migration and administration

Duration: 5 months (August–December 2006)

Due to growth and restructuring of the corporation, it became necessary Titus to migrate the existing SharePoint Server 2003 solution to a new Active Directory (AD) forest. This included the migration of SQL databases used by SharePoint, dozens of SharePoint sites, and their respective security settings and permissions.

  • Architected, planned, and implemented the entire SharePoint migration strategy;
  • Planned the backup and recovery strategy;
  • Backed up the existing SharePoint configuration and SQL databases;
  • Migrated the existing SQL databases used by SharePoint to the SQL server in the new AD forest and configured them for use in the new AD forest;
  • Installed SharePoint Server 2003 in the new AD forest and provisioned it to use the migrated SQL server databases;
  • Set all necessary SharePoint permissions for the users and groups in the new AD forest;
  • Created corporate SharePoint site template including document libraries with customized Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 status reports and time sheets;
