JAGAM invites Malaysians to apply for a Post Graduate Scholarship to Japan

Petaling Jaya: Japanese Government with the collaboration of Japan Graduates’Association of Malaysia (JAGAM), a chapter of ASEAN Council of Japan Alumni(ASCOJA) will be providing a scholarship (Japanese Government Scholarship Studentswith ASCOJA recommendation) to an eligible applicant for Master or PhD course for theApril 2013 enrolment.

Malaysians who are under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2013 and are degree holders with 16 years of formal education or undergraduates who are in thefinal year at theirrespective universities are eligible to apply.

During the term of the scholarship, the recipient will have a monthly allowance ofapproximately 143,000 yen while fees and tuition at university will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket is also provided.

“It is a privileged opportunity for the Malaysian scholar who not only able to pursue academic study and research in one of the most advanced nations in the world, but also get to experience thenature, beauty, peace, rich culture and in general, the way oflifein Japan,” said Mr. Phua LeeKerk, president of JAGAM, “We are proud to embark on this program and sincerely appreciate the Japanese Government for its commitment to the education ofMalaysians.”

About JAGAM:

JAGAM, Japan Graduates’ Association of Malaysia, was conceived in 1970 by a group of 22 Malaysian graduates from Japanese Universities. The aims and objectives of JAGAM are:

(1) / To promote, encourage and foster civic, social and cultural activities amongst members of the Association;
(2) / To advise, aid and guide members on their return to Malaysia with respect to opportunities of employment and conditions of employment;
(3) / To advise, aid and guide intending students and post-graduate students who will be or are furthering their studies in Japan;
(4) / To promote goodwill and better understanding between Malaysia and Japan.

JAGAM, together with Japan Embassy and JASSO KL, provides free counseling, talks at high schools and education seminars to students who intend to study in Japan and also co-organizes JAPAN EDUCATION FAIR.
Besides promoting education in Japan, JAGAM conducts free talks and public lectures on various topics ranging from finance, astronomy, shiatsu therapy, healthcare, Japan-Malaysia relations and others.
JAGAM members also conduct Japanese language classes at the Clubhouse and more than 500 students have since completed the classes for basic and intermediate Japanese language courses.

The clubhouse in Petaling Jaya has a library with a moderate collection of Japanese reference and story books for both members and general public.
It also hosts the various festive occasions in Malaysia for members, public and Japanese under MM2H.

(八打灵讯)在日本政府与亚细安留日同窗会(ASCOJA)成员之一的马来西亚留日同学会的协办下,本地成绩优秀大学生且有意前往日本深造硕士或博士学位者可于本日开始申请ASCOJA推荐日本政府奖学金。

凡是我国公民,在2013年4 月1 日前年龄不超过35 岁者且曾受过至少16 年的正统教育以及拥有大学学士学位以上或大学最后一年生皆可申请。

此项奖学金优惠包括学费、考试费、报名费以及在日本修读一年或半年日语课程的学费全免;同时保送生还可领取毎月大约143,000 日元的生活津贴及來回吉隆坡-日本的机票。

马来西亚留日同学会会长潘力克表示对于我国优秀大学生来说,此项奖学金是难得的机会,保送生除了能在世界数一数二的先进国日本学习与研究之外,也能体验其自然,文化及民间生活。他也说马来西亚留日同学会很荣幸能参与此奖学金,也深深感谢日本政府对栽培我国人才的尽心。
