This E.E.I.G. (European Economic Interest Grouping) was formed in 1995 in order to promote the image of coal at European level as a “modern, clean, safe and competitive energy source for the future”.

In 1995, created with ATIC – Paris, CARBOEX – Madrid and 3 Belgian Companies (which formed a.o. the C.I.C.I.C. later in 1998).

New members afterwards: R.J.B. (now UK Coal/COALPRO) - ASSOCARBONI - Roma, Verein der Deutche Kohle Importeure – Hamburg and Swedish Coal Institute – Stockholm.

In early 2003, EURISCOAL decided to collaborate more closely with EURACOAL (European Association for Coal and Lignite) – Brussels which is an association (formerly CEPCEO, then CECSO) grouping originally all European Producers of coal and lignite.

In order to speak with one voice (Producers and Importers) at European level, EURISCOAL became a member of EURACOAL.

All EURISCOAL Board Members are taking part to EURACOAL’s Market Committee.

Co-founder of EURISCOAL in 1995, I am now Director since 2000.

Since mid 2003, Member of the Executive Committee of EURACOAL.

In September 1998, appointed by the Belgian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, as Belgian representative of the category COAL - Consumers/Traders at the E.C.S.C. Consultative Committee (Luxembourg).

After July 2002 – expiration of E.C.S.C. Treaty – the Consultative Committee continued its activity in cooperation with and under the umbrella of the European Economic and Social Committee – Brussels – under the name: Consultative Commission on Industrial Changes (C.C.M.I.- Comité Consultatif des Mutations Industrielles)

As EURISCOAL had been elected as the entity responsible to appoint 3 representatives of the COAL Consumers/Traders, I was appointed as Delegate to the C.C.M.I.

In November 2002, I was confirmed as Member of the Bureau of C.C.M.I. and coordinator of group III (various interests) and participated to missions in Slovakia, Poland, Estonia and China.

In January 2005, CCMI was enlarged in order to accommodate delegates of the 10 new member countries and representatives of other sectors concerned with industrial changes. I was confirmed as Member of the Bureau and elected co-President.
