Telegram Service

Suriname

Communication of 22.XI.2001:

Cessation of telegram service

Telecommunicatiebedrijf Suriname (TELESUR), Paramaribo, announces that it no longer provides the national and international telegram service to and from Suriname since 1September2001.

To meet the communication needs of its customers abroad, Telecommunicatiebedrijf Suriname (TELESUR) uses more economic and faster services such as telephone, facsimile and e-mail.

Furthermore, owing to the closure of the national and international telegram service in Suriname, the telegram destination indicator “SN” allocated to Suriname and the office codes “SNPA / Paramaribo” and “SNPX / All others”, used in the telegram retransmission system, have been deleted on 1 September 2001, at 0000hours UTC.

The List of Telegram Destination Indicators, published in accordance with ITU-T RecommendationF.32, will be updated accordingly*.

Papua New Guinea

Communication of 6.XII.2001:

Cessation of telex service

Telikom PNG Pty Ltd, Boroko, announces that, since 1st March 2001, it no longer provides the telex service (international and national) to and from Papua New Guinea.

The telex destination code (TDC) “703” allocated to Papua New Guinea (ITU-T Recommendation F.69), including the telex network identification code (TNIC) “NE” (ITU-T Recommendation F.68) (also used as telegram destination indicator), remain nevertheless reserved for Papua New Guinea.
