The are TWO all to common errors that teams are doing (or not doing) when they enter their team results – these errors cause a heap of unnecessary workload for NSJCA volunteers so please don’t do it.
It would be helpful if each team printed a copy of this and kept it in the scorebook.
The entering of a result…
… MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AGREEMENT AFTER THE MATCH AND THE SCORE BOOKS HAVE THE SAME DATA (for wickets, runs, overs faced, and individual sundries tallies)
ERROR 1 – DATA ENTRY
Please note when entering the result data that you (if you’re the FIRST team to enter the result info)
- Enter the details of who won the toss
- Who batted first
- FOR BOTH TEAMS
- TICK the checkbox “FIRST INNINGS COMMENCED” (for both teams)
- Wickets
- Runs
- Overs faced (including partial overs e.g. 7.2)
- All sundries (byes, leg byes, wides, no balls, penalties)
- The result should be selected from drop down (when you select for one team the opposite/applicable value should appear for the other team)
- You should only select, “WON FIRST INNINGS (ONE DAY)” or “LOST FIRST INNINGS (ONE DAY)” or “TIE FIRST INNINGS (ONE DAY)” others DRAWN, ABANDONED, WON/LOST ON FORFEIT
- NOTE: If you are in FIRST and are unsure of data you have entered, or are missing some, you MUST set the status to “MATCH IN PROGESS” which will enable the second (other) team to confirm or correct any data and you will be able to return and confirm it later (as the “second” team).
- Click SAVE BUTTON
If you are SECOND in you just have to confirm or dispute the result (links at the bottom).
ERROR 2 – MATCH RESULT (in dropdowns)
The actual match result has a plethora of available options – only a handful of these are applicable for our one day games – putting in the wrong one screws ladders etc. up; put in the right results
Here is the full list; for one-day matches use ONLY options displayed in the list on the right!!!!
Consequential stuff – if you are the team in SECOND to enter a result you can ONLY confirm or dispute a result – if ANY of the data entry is incorrect you DISPUTE a match – do NOT confirm a result that is in error and then complain about it.
The first action of the Results Secretaries (in the Competition & Grounds Subcommittee) in the event of a dispute (we receive notification emails if there is a dispute) will be to RESET the match status – so EITHER Team can then go and correct the error/s if first and, if second, to confirm or dispute (hopefully not) the result. The Result Secretaries are not data entry clerks but arbiters – the teams must still do the data entry!
A reminder – do NOT use Match Result Dispute for any other reason than advice of incorrect data or result status – disputes about conduct etc. are processed separately (though your club’s NSJCA Delegate).
LASTLY – Other stuff – there are a couple of mandatory timeline requirements that teams are NOT adhering to.
You MUST select you teams in MyCricket BEFORE the match – you then MUST Print team lists and take to the match – for scorers and to confer with umpires and opposition managers. Do NOT blanket preselect your squad for all future matches; only those players actually playing should be selected.
You MUSTenter match result data (as detailed in error 1, or if in second CONFIRM) THE EVENING AFTER THE MATCH AND NO LATER THAN SUNDAY MIDNIGHT
.. AND if you wish to contact the Results Secretaries (and Competition and Grounds) directly please use the email address
