Happy Friday!

It was another week of excellence in our prek classroom. We are in our third week of the ball study and already beginning Investigation 4 next week. Let’s give a big shout out to Shaina’sdad Mr. Bhatt for coming for a WOW Experience to teach tennis and cricket. We all learned so much! The children really enjoyed the hands-on experience of using the tennis racket and cricket bat and also gained exposure to new vocabulary related to the sports. Enjoy the photos!

Our investigations this week were: Do all balls roll? What makes balls move? The children concluded that not all balls roll such a cotton ball. The children experimented on Wednesday with rolling different balls down ramps of varying heights. Ask your child to tell you about how the height affects the speed of the ball rolling down the ramp!

Books that were read this week included Bounce, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Three Little Pigs. The children are very familiar with these stories now as they’ve been read a few times. Invite your child to reenact the characters inThe Three Billy Goats Gruff and The Three Little Pigs.

We concluded our week with a read-aloud from Kian’s dad, Mr. Perry who came to read Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes and Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons.

Next week Abby’s dad, Mr. Keith will be joining us to read his favorite book The Dot!

Your family involvement is valued and appreciated at LCCS! We also welcome other family members to come in too!

Why is theater beneficial to young children?

Creative arts actively engage children’s imagination through art, dance, dramatic play or theater, puppetry, and music. The creative arts engage children across all domains—cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical.
