De-mystifying and explaining the Principles of Engineering and Construction Contracts
About this Workshop

It is well known that engineering and construction contracts are a specialised field of legal practice. Drawing on his experience as an attorney and as senior legal adviser for many years to a major listed South African manufacturing group of companies and now as presenter of seminars for Binnington Copeland & Associates in the South African engineering and construction industry, Hugh Lane will de-mystify many of the concepts peculiar to construction law and, in a practical way, assist practitioners avoid pitfalls for the unwary.

This workshop deals generically with engineering and construction contracts, and does not focus on any particular standard-form construction contract. The workshop can only accommodate 20-30 delegates.

Presenter
Hugh Lane
After studying law at the University of Natal, Hugh practiced as an attorney in both Durban and Johannesburg. He subsequently worked as a legal adviser to the Darling & Hodgson, Malbak and Sappi Groups of Companies for 30 years. His main area of interest is technology law, particularly engineering and construction contracts and research and development agreements. Hugh is an honorary member of the Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa (CLASA). /
