Good Morning!

Welcome to September and the regular season. :-)

It is great to get out and about to see you and your teams!

First up: reminders

SEPT 12: team payments and e-rosters are due

[Only an online roster is required. Just ensure approval by your school authorities (i.e. principals)]

Website:

It is ready to receive your results! Remember, this is done by the HOME coaches.

Coming soon! An automated standings, updated with the entries of your results.

Uniforms:

For ease of reading numbers, please have your athletes wear the uniform as intended.

It is "preferable" to tuck in the jersey and tying the shirt is discouraged.

Support crew:

Our line-judges and scorekeepers are a critical part of the officiating team. Each referee will work with them.

However, having a prepared, knowledgeable candidate will help everyone!

Also, if your BEST line-judge and or scorekeeper is younger than a high school sophomore, that is okay.

Just ensure that both coaches agree to this (Often club players or former players know these'jobs' well).

Playoffs:

An itinerary will soon be posted for the "elite eight" (Varsity on Sat. 10/29 at SJHS and JV on Sun. 10/30 at OLSH)

IF you are interested in hosting a first round double-header (Mon. 10/24),please send me an emailexpressing such interest.

Wed. 10/26 is an alternate date for those first round matches.

Reminder: all first through third place finishers (JV and varsity) will qualify -- with third place "tiebreakers" played as necessary.

More details will be forthcoming.

Equipment:

Ensure that the net systems (poles) are padded as high as possible. Ideally, this is six (6) feet. Do your best.

Please use a game ball with the "NFHS" authenticating mark and/or logo.

Volleyball color is a non-factor in the Diocesan League. However, a professional and neutral "look" is strongly preferred.

Line-ups:

There are now official diocesan line-ups posted on the website.

You do not have to use this form, but it would be excellent for consistency.

Remember, the first server for BOTH serving and receiving teams will be listed on line1.

(I initially had a typo in last week's Thursday Thoughts.)

HAVE FUN:

The reason we are all involved is to promote the catholic way of life through athletics. This is an extension of the classroom.

More than that, it is a way to grow in faith, love, and fellowship via friendly competition.

Officials:

My assigning "dream team" does a wonderful job of matching the appropriate officials to your contests.

These officials are selected because they are ready to instruct and promote an atmosphere of learning.

Never be afraid to ask questions: that goes for everyone. We want to learn together.

Just as a reminder (to myself as well), each match requires a $35. fee to the “ref.”

Well, it is time to wrap-up. I wrote you a novel (at least a novella) last Thursday.

Best wishes and to all a great season of continual success!
