17thOctober 2014

Dear Parents,

It is almost half term – goodness, where did the time go?

PTA AGM

Thank you to those who attended our Curry and a Pint PTA AGM. We are very pleased to welcome Simon Richardson as our new PTA chairman. I’m sure he will do a fantastic job. Simon says,’The PTA were delighted to re-elect a number of existing members at Monday's AGM, plus see several new faces appointed, whose kind support is most welcomed".

PTA Pumpkin discoFri 17th October, 5pm-6pm, Catsfield Village Hall

PTA Christmas Bazaar: Friday 12th December 3.30-4.30pmThe PTA are looking for raffle prizes for the Christmas Bazaar and would like to ask if anyone knows any local businesses who would like to donate a prize, large or small. Please let Simon know as soon as possible – he is usually in the playground in the mornings.

Sponsored Walk

Thank you so much for your support with this. The children really enjoyed the afternoon and did incredibly well in gaining their sponsors. An amazing £620 has already been raised! If your child hasn’t yet collected their money, please encourage them to do so by Thursday if possible as we would like to announce the winners in our Celebration Assembly on Friday before we break up. Many thanks.

Parent’s Evening Monday 20th October 1.30 – 7.00 pm

Appointment sheets are displayed in the Conservatory. The appointments are for 10 minutes. Please take a seat outside the office and the teacher will call you when they are ready. There will be no clubs on this day.

Whole School trip to Herstmonceux Science Centre, Wednesday 22nd October

If you haven’t already returned your consent slip for this trip, please do so by Monday at the verylatest. Don’t forget a packed lunch and raincoat. The children will return to school and be ready to go home at the usual time.

Thanks once again to the PTA who are treating the whole school to this special day.

Meet the teachers Thank you for all the positive responses and ideas for Parental Workshops. Forty-four parents and governors attended the session; this is excellent. We have looked at your evaluations and are planning a programme of sessions for the rest of the year. We will start this with a phonics session for parents in term 2. Date TBA.

PTA Bag2School: Don’t forget to bring back your bag (hopefully full!). You still have a little time to delve into the back of your cupboards and find unwanted clothes. The more the weight, the more cash the PTA will receive so please have a good clear-out at home! Bring your bags to school on Thursday 23rd October in the morning. Grateful thanks to Alison Norwood for organising this once again.

Reminder: Half term runs from Monday 27th October until Tuesday 4th November. MONDAY 3rd NOVEMBER is an INSET day.

WW1 Centenary Church service: This will be held at 10.45am in St Laurence’s Church on Tuesday 11th November. We will have 2 minutes silence at 11am, the children will share their learning with you and sing some WW1 songs. We would like to invite you to join us.

Braiswick Photographers will be at school on Thursday 6th November taking individual photographs and family groups. If you would like a group photo to include your pre-school child, please come in at 08.45 to get these ones done before 9 o’clock. We will automatically arrange for family groups as well as individual photos to be taken. There is no obligation for you to buy.

Parent Tours for the new Reception Intake will be held on Monday 17th November and Friday 21st November at 1.30pm. Please ring the school to sign up.

Mrs Fernandes has worked very hard organising Science Week with a wealth of exciting and stimulating activities arranged for all the children. We are all really looking forward to an amazing last week of term!

Yours sincerely,

Mrs S Clark
