JOB DESCRIPTION

Post: Lunchtime Team Manager

Reporting to: Assistant Head/School Business Manager

Hours per week: 20 hours

Time: (4 hours a day 10 am – 2pm negotiable)

Weeks per year: 38 (+ development days if required)

1)Purpose:
To supervise and organize the lunchtime team on a day to day basis according to the demands of each day. To minimizing disruption and ensure the children’s wellbeing, happiness and safety are maintained.
2)Scope for impact
Support staff makes a strong contribution to pupils’ learning by making positive contributions to children’s supervision and welfare. The team will make a positive impact on the smooth running of lunchtimes with the skills to deal with differing situations. This will ensure that teachers are able to return to the classroom in the knowledge that the children will return from lunch without any disruption from unresolved incidents.
Parents will be happy in the knowledge that they are able to have a point of contact for any accidents/incidents at lunchtime that may need clarification. This will make a positive impact on teachers’ time, enabling them to remain in class without interruption.
3) Principal Accountabilities
·  Research, develop and maintain a lunchtime experience where the children are happy and absorbed in play.
·  Planning and preparation of lunchtime activities to include organization and structure of the lunchtime team
·  Direct the work of the Lunchtime Team so that the objectives of the lunchtime experience are achieved.
·  Give guidance, support and encouragement to staff on the lunchtime team.
·  Be ready to step in to fill kitchen and playleader roles when necessary.
·  Work closely with all members of the team to ensure that all roles and responsibilities are being carried out on a daily basis.
·  Organise and undertake on the job training for new staff to ensure standards are maintained
·  Liaise with Teachers regarding pupils causing concern
·  Liaise with Parents as first point of contact regarding lunchtime related issues
·  Attend training courses as required
·  Carry out monitoring and performance management for each member of the Team
·  Use Restorative Justice Practices to deal with any behavioural issues that occur during the lunchtime period.
·  Comply with Health and Safety, Fire Regulations and other County policies
·  Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person to ensure pupils’ wellbeing.
·  Be available to assist teachers and other staff to provide care and guidance for children as and when required

·  Knowledge of First Aid and Hygiene Practise
·  Knowledge of manual handling techniques
·  Able to recognize and to deal with emergency situations
