Islamabad police ensured elaborate security plan on May 11
ISLAMABAD, May 12: Effective security arrangements of Islamabad police on occasion of rally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf brought great success for the force as no untoward incident happened and strict patrolling as well as policing helped in ensuring peaceful handling and holding of this gathering
in the city.
Islamabad police including Special Branch, Rangers, Punjab & AJK police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies performed patrolling and security duties on this occasion and all the area around D-Chowk was completely cordoned off through heavy deployment for protection of the
participants.
Following the directions of Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, officials of Islamabad Capital Territory administration, Islamabad police and other stakeholders devised a comprehensive plan for security of rally's
participants. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Aftab Cheema and other senior police officials including allSPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other police officials themselves visited the site and ensured effective
coordination among the security personnel performing duties. Police officials guided the cops and boosted their morale in accomplishing duties in a responsible manner.
IGP Islamabad Aftab Cheema has appreciated performance of each policeman who performed the duty by remaining vigilant to ensure protection to lives and property of citizens. The police officers including SPs also visited various police posts, checked security duties at outer cordon of the city and briefed policemen as how to ensure effective security.
IGP Islamabad Aftab Cheema has lauded the professional attitude of their force and devotion of security personnel on the occasion.
More than 7000 security personnel were deputed for safety to the lives of those participating in the rally and to maintain peace as well as tranquility in the city. Effective coordination was maintained among all
wings of Islamabad police and police divided the city into four zones keeping in view security arrangements. Each Zone including Red Zone, Buffer Zone (Outside Red zone),outermost cordon and High Security Zone witnessed the heavy deployment as a part of effective security measures.
After permission to PTI to stage public meeting by the district administration, Islamabad police enhanced security measures and there was three-tier security in Islamabad - Police, Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) - to protect the city and to avoid any untoward situation.
QRF teams maintained high vigilance through patrolling while policemen were deputed along with sophisticated weapons on various routes to avoid any untoward incident. Checking of the venue was made with the sniffers dogs and bomb disposal squad remained present there for effective checking. Owing high security measures, Islamabad police arrested Siddique Ahmed s/o Mir Khan resident of Azizkhel, Charsada were arrested for having 9 MM pistol and two magazines while Ali Muhammad s/o Nazir Muhammad resident of Akhon villge, Shab Qadar and Atif Waqar s/o Faisal Khan resident of Jand, Attock were nabbed for having dagger and two wine bottles respectively.
ITP staff remained present on various roads to avoid inconvenience to the road users and parking areas were specified for the participants of the gathering. Special arrangements were made for checking of all participants
in a prestigious way and walk through gates as well as metal detectors were used for checking of participants. CCTV cameras were also installed at the venue of rally and police commandoes were deputed at all the buildings in its vicinity. At the end of the gathering, special arrangements were made through Fazal-e-Haq road and Nazim Uddin Roads for peaceful dispersion of participants.
