Is There a Way to Improve Soccer Cleats?
The reason I wrote this paper was to find a new way to improve soccer cleats. This could better the playing of soccer players, while also giving them the style they want. This also benefits many people I know, including myself, since we all play soccer. I also wrote this to show even the basic things we use can be very complex and well made.
Research:
This research paper will discuss topics about the soccer cleat. These topics include: How a basic cleat helps a player, parts of the cleat, what materials they are made of, and the the different kinds of cleats. It's will also include an interview of an experienced soccer player, Mary VanHoy, a senior at Captain Shreve. She has played soccer for her whole life, playing from recreational level to the Olympic Development Program, teams consisted of the state's best players. She has received 1st Team All-District while playing at Captain Shreve.
The soccer cleat is a type of shoe that is designed to enhance the player's overall play. This includes traction to the field, touch on the ball, and some even provides protection from opposing players. Cleats help with traction by the placement of studs on the bottom of the outsole. These studs dig into the ground while the player moves. This gives the player aid in acceleration towards the ball. The studs also give grip on the ball to the player at sometimes. Touch on the ball is vital to attacking positions in soccer which include: Center Midfielders, Wing Midfielders, Wing Forwards, and Striker. Control on the ball is mainly skill, yes, but also the grip and texture from the player’s cleats affect their control. Many cleats have started to have designed textures on the upper part of the cleat, allowing grip in even the worst conditions. Many cleat producers have started to create a type of cleat called “Sock-fit.” The design of the cleat, like its name, fits the foot like a sock. This allows the cleat to fit more snug to the foot, but also allows producers to add ankle pads to protect players from unwanted injuries. Different parts of the cleat affect the player plays.
