INTERN(AVRR/SMC) ~ COLOMBO

IOM Classification: INTERN (AVRR/SMC)

Duration: 3 months (Renewable up to a maximum of 09 Months)

Working in accordance with the overall directives of the Programme Manager AVRR (Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration) Unit, under the direct supervision of the Team Leader of the Safe Migration Awareness Campaign (SMC); the intern will be responsible and accountable for the following activities carried out under Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Programme.

  1. Support AVRR staff in logistical arrangements and support during Safe Migration Campaign (SMC) awareness sessions; including distribution of SMC materials during awareness sessions and in the field.
  2. Maintain records of stocks for SMC visibility item distribution and update the stock position after SMC sessions.
  3. Enter and analyze data in a timely manner, provide weekly reports to the SMC team leader on the analyzed data and responses related to Community Response Mapping (CRM).
  4. Coordinate with identified resource persons to ensure timely delivery of sessions. Coordinate with the field offices to update the SMC records on stocks and to arrange field level SMC sessions.
  5. Proactively arrange the SMC items and IT equipment for SMC awareness programmes.
  6. Assist the hotline operator in handling the call queue.
  7. Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Education/ Training: Pre Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or Humanities.
  • Skills: Familiarity with research work in a social science setting. Computer literacy in SPPS or any other data analysis package is an advantage. A reasonable written & verbal knowledge of English with excellent command of local languages. Ability to use three languages will be a definite advantage.
  • Work Experience: Nil
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
