Trade links between Ireland and China has continued to flourish in recent years. China is a prime export market for many products and services and is a priority market for Ireland. Strengthening our relations with China is critical to our exports and to our economic recovery.

The Chinese economy has rose by 7.7% last year from the previous year. Furthermore, Irish Trade with China is now worth more than €8 billion per year and there is a strong trade surplus in Ireland's favour.

China has developed a appetite for overseas direct investment and will now spend more overseas than it is taking in. It is a long term source of inward investment for Ireland which is hugely important. This together with many Irish indigenous companies having doubled their trade in China in recent times means that there is a strong trading and business relationship between both countries.
