Primary Function:

·  Serves as an Institutional Official of the Special School programs for the Board of Regents, State of Iowa (BOR).

·  Plans, develops and directs all professional financial management, budgeting, business and related administrative services for both Special School programs.

·  Serves as head accountant and provides leadership and coordination of all financial transactions.

·  Responsible for the supervision of Business Office and Information Technology department staff.

·  Collects, maintains and analyzes financial data to support management decisions and prepares related reports for use by the Superintendent, BOR, affiliate agencies and grant sources.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field plus at least six years of accounting or finance experience, including supervisory experience, is required. Applicants must have the ability to reach the level of sign language proficiency designated for the position within the time frame established by the School’s Sign Language Communication Policy. The ability to travel within the state regularly, including some overnights is also required.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree, experience working in an education setting, and eligibility for Certified Public Accountant status preferred.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be determined by the successful applicant’s educational and experiential qualifications. A comprehensive benefit package is available, including relocation assistance.

Position Details: Full-time, Calendar-year appointment. Position starts as soon as possible. Primary office location will be at the Iowa School for the Deaf – Council Bluffs, IA. Criminal and other relevant background checks required.
