1INITIAL PRINTER CONFIGURATION

When the printer is first powered up or after a factory reset the Startup Wizard will be invoked. Additionally in order to configure the printer for your particular label stock the Printing Wizard should be run. The Startup Wizard requires the following information:

  • Display Language: This defaults to English. If that is the desired language press .
  • Command Language: This defaults to Fingerprint. Press Direct Protocol. When prompted press Yes.

NOTE: If the command language selection screen has been bypassed use the following procedure to configure the printer to use Direct Protocol:
  1. Press the Menu icon in the upper left corner of the LCD.
  2. Press Settings and then System Settings.
  3. Press General then scroll down until you get to Command Language.
  4. Use the left or right arrow until Direct Protocol is displayed.
  5. Press the Save icon at the top of the LCD.
  6. Press the Home icon in the upper right to exit.
  7. Reboot the printer.

  • Unit of Measure: This defaults to dots. The options are dots, inches, and mm. Press the desired unit of measure. If dots is chosen multiply the dimensions of the label without the backing by 203. A 4 x 1 label would be 812 x 203.

Printing Wizard: At the completion of the Startup Wizard the printer will prompt you to run other wizards. Press Yes. Press Printing.

  1. Press Media Setup.
  2. The default is Media with Gaps. If this the correct type press or press a different type if required.
  3. The default is Ribbon (TTR). If this the correct type press or press No Ribbon (DT).
  4. Define your media dimensions. To modify a dimension press the field and a virtual keypad will popup to allow you to change the setting. Press to proceed to the next dimension.
  5. Label positioning: Start adjust is the distance the printer will retract the label to begin printing. Use the button to delete any entry before entering your settings. A setting of -110 will feed the label to the tear-off position then retract it at print time. You may have to adjust this for your particular stock. Press to proceed to the next setting.
  6. Stop adjust should be set to 0 if using a start adjust of -110. Press .
  7. Leave print speed at the default setting. Press to complete the wizard.
  8. Press the to return to the Ready screen.

2INSTALL PRINTER DRIVERS AND FIRMWARE– NOTE: this step may require “Administrator” rights within Windows.

  1. Go to – select Support and then Downloads.

  1. Input the filters below to select the PC43t printer downloads.

Click Submit.

  1. Scroll to the BOTTOM OF THE PAGE to the OS/Firmware/Drivers section, and download InterDriver Windows version7.3.6 M-0 or newer.

NOTE: Be prepared to restart the computer during the installation process. If you are prompted, allow the application to make changes to the computer and Close the installer.

  1. Double click InterDriver_7.3.6_M-0.exe to begin installation.
  2. Accept the EULA and click Next. Extract driver to the default folder. If another version exists, the installation will remove it before proceeding. Click Next. Accept the default driver location folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\InterDriver\) and click Next. Click Install.
  3. Uncheck the Check for updates to InterDriver checkbox. Click Next.

  1. Select Install printer drivers and click Next.
  2. Select the connection method to be used and click Next. Depending on whether USB or Ethernet is selected please follow the appropriate steps below:

[USB Selected ONLY]

  1. Select USB and when instructed connect the printer to the PC and then turn it on. If the Windows Add Printer Wizard starts, cancel it.
  2. The printer should appear in the Plug and Play detection screen. Select it and click Next. Click Finish then Close.

NOTE: You may need to restart the computer if previous versions were installed. Click Restart. When PC restarts select Yes to allow Seagull Driver Wizard to make changes to the PC. The driver will install automatically any subsequent time the printer is attached.

[Network (Ethernet or WiFi) Selected ONLY]

  1. Connect your printer to the network, turn it on, and click Next.
  2. Specify the Manufacturer and Model of the printer. Click Next.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to select the CORRECT MODEL with the CORRECT RESOLUTION. You should select “Intermec PC43t (203dpi)”.

  1. If use an existing port select it and click Next. If creating a new port click Create Port. Specify Standard TCP/IP Port and Click New Port. Click Next. Specify the printer’s IP address and click Next. The system will detect the NIC as a Generic Network card. Click Next then Finish. Click Close in the Create Port window. Click Next.
  2. If applicable specify the printer name. Click Next. Click Finish then Close.

YOUR PRINTER SHOULD NOW DISPLAY IN YOUR (Win XP) “PRINTERS AND FAXES” OR IN YOUR (Win 7) “DEVICES AND PRINTERS” LIST.

3SET-UP PRINTER DRIVER

PAGE SETUP:The page sizes used by the IMPRESS system need to be defined in the driver. Open your PC43t Printer Properties window:

Windows XP: Click the Start button and select Printers and Faxes. Right-click the printer and select Properties.

Windows 7: Click the Startbutton and select Devices and Printers. Right-click the printer and select Printer Properties.

For other operating systems, consult your technical support.

Define the new stock size(s) using the Page Setup tab.

The following example describes creating a 4 inch wide x 2 inch high label. Repeat the following steps to create labels for different dimensions.

You should be back to the main PC43t Printer Properties window. You will now need to modify the Driver Options.

DRIVER OPTIONS Setup:

Click OK to save settings and exit Printer Properties.

4Setup Adobe Page Settings

In the Adobe Print dialog box, the following Page Settings should be used when printing count-sheets or labels.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS /ALERT MESSAGES

Printed label is not feeding to the tear off bar and retracting properly so that subsequent label data is moving either up or down the labels. / The start and stop adjust settings need to be modified. The example below worked for 4 x 2 labels. The front panel, web browser, or PrintSet can be used to adjust these settings.
