Introduction with Organization Mission and Purpose:

Introduce project/event team leads. Share information about your organization and your team. Provide insights about your Project/Event mission and/or purpose. For annual competitions; provide a short summary of previous highlights or impact and share about lessons learned.

Event/Project Description:

Illustrate how your Project/Event will address a community, engineering, or technological issue. For teams who’ve previously applied, most importantly how you’ve made impact or changes since last year. Make sure to include a timeline and any significant project/event goals. Timeline/schedule should include project/competition planning, design, development and execution. Generally, by when do you expect this project to be finished?

Project Scope & Evolution

Project scope defines the boundaries of a project. Think of the scope as an imaginary box that will enclose all the project elements/activities. It not only defines what you are doing (what goes into the box), but it sets limits for what will not be done as part of the project (what doesn’t fit in the box). Scope answers questions including what will be done, what won’t be done, and what the result will look like. Close with insights about how the funds will be used. This information provides a transition to the general budget information below.

Evolution:

What have you changed or learned as a result of last years’ experience? Have you thoroughly reviewedthe final project/product (including plans for future modifications)? Will you apply lessons learned about engineering concepts and best practicesfor managing group and team dynamics?

Budget:

Be specific about where your funds are coming from and how much you need all together for your project to be success of for you to do well in competition. Identify themes in your spending; are you using more funds this year or less, and why or why not?
