About Creating Changes: Creating Changes is a project offering free community development training to a wide range of local support and development organisations, so that they can improve their practice in supporting small groups and networks.

Course aims: This course offers the opportunity for course participants to develop an awareness of participatory and inclusive methods of planning, delivering and evaluating short Community Development taster sessions.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the learning support needs of specific community groups
  2. Use the values and process of Community Development in their work
  3. Explore the process of planning and delivering taster courses to community groups
  4. Create a record of personal learning.

Who is this course for?

Introduction to Running Community Development Training is a two day course aimed at community activists and paid and unpaid workers who, within their ongoing roles, support the learning, development and actions of small groups and networks and who are interested in developing their skills, knowledge and understanding of how to use participative approaches in facilitating informal community development learning as part of such work. You do not need to be a generic Community Development Worker.

*We arefunded to provide thistraining free to the Community and Voluntary Sector, whose bookings take priority. Subject to availability, statutory/private sector employeesare welcometo take part in the training for a smallcharge of £25.

What information do we need about you?

  1. You should be able to name six small groups/networks you are working with in response to question 2 on the booking form. If you find it difficult to name up to six groups you can contact Suki Shergill at FCDL on 0114 2536770 or to discuss this further.
  2. You should be involved in supporting the collective action or community members and groups. Your responses to booking form question 3 will give us information about this.

As we are keen to learn about the impact of your learning from the course on your work with the groups you support, we will contact you two months after the training. A tracking form will be sent to you for you to complete that will help you to reflect on your development of new skills and the impact of this in practice on the groups you named on the application form.
