Minutes: Motion to Dispense with Minutes of last meeting due to technical difficulties.Motion carried.

Financial Statement: Approved

Legislative Update:

Dick Pierce Issues: training stds, cellular, etc.

Art Faulkner updated us on law suite on levelized billing

Conference Report: (Oct 912)

Bill Meadows reported on conference progress.He needs people to help & speakers.

John Ellison discussed merits of putting social events in for Monday.He discussed the need to deemphasize the events in the mailouts.

Bill Meadows mentioned the National NENA Ballot & encouraged membership to vote for John Ellison.

Training:

John Ellison brought up the issue of charging for videos and other training materials.Motion to allow use by NENA members at no charge, while it is financially feasible to do so.NENA to pay for outgoing postage Approved.

Newsletter:

Request for news preferably on disk, but any form is OK.

Discussion of DAD (Delayed Auto Dial).This feature allows customer's phone to automatically dial apredetermined number if knocked offhook.ALNENA is opposed to the use of 911 as the number to be dialed. It violates the spirit of the law prohibiting nonhuman initiated calls to 911.

PSA Tape:

John played the Public Service Announcement tape for the attendees.Another version is being developed.A request was made for an audioonly version also.The tape will cost members $60.00

Old business:

John proposed the purchase of video equipment for production of training videos, etc.Camera, editor, and Monitor. Motion was made and carried.

A cellular presentationannounced a GPS device for mobile phones, etc.. Patrick Crawford with Smith Advanced Technologies.

Brian Peters, from the National Weather Service spoke to the membership about tornado calls not being forwarded to the NWS.He has asked us to consider a method for doing this.He also announced new radar technology that is becoming available. New Business:

Discussion of problems with GTE having to charge exceptionally large fees for startup.

Vote to support John up to $500.00 for Las Vegas Convention.

Logo for Las Vegas shirts was presented and accepted.

The next meeting will be at Scottsboro.
