Interview a Civil War Veteran (for AP European History)

Ok- you can’t do that, because they are no longer alive. But you can fake an interview with any character from history, right?

Topic List:

1. St Bartholomew, etc- Chris, Aaron, Lyle, Andrei

2. Insure me- Bank on it!- Clare, Anna, Jaci

3. Art, Music, Lit—Hannah, Maddie, Sammie
4. The Science of Technology—Meryl, Lauren, Adrian

5. Letters to the Philosopher—Audrey, Matt, Frances

6. Elizabethan England-- Julia, Erin, Sarah

**time frame is 1450 to 1700 or so—as appropriate to your topic

Each group has a short list that I gave you. Deal with them-- and also two other figures who came after (or before) with an explanation of how they were impacted by (or had an influence on) the originals. Remember—what did they do, and why should we care?

To Do:

1.  research—use valid, primary source documents as often as possible. The text books are not counted as sources—but should certainly be used as a baseline.

2.  script—what characters, what will they say? Type it—hand it in on due date.

3.  Video—an interview, re-enactment, or documentary… or whatever you come up with.

4.  Cast--go find some extroverts and put them to work.

5.  Disclaimer-- do not give us tons of info that is boring.

6.  Plan--Be sure that there is a logical plan— have a structured idea. The point is to tell a story—stories have a beginning, middle, and an end. The end reveals a general truth.

7.  Mechanical--If we can’t see it and hear it, we won’t like it

8.  Content Note--It must be appropriate for school.

9.  Duration--Should be 10 min long (max, and not much less than)

10. Credits--Must cite sources (a typewritten sheet) with excerpts

11. Due Tuesday, 27 October 2009

12. Assessment--Must include a check for learning—a puzzle, word search, whatever…

13. Must have a chronological (with dates) info sheet—a bulleted list—that includes all the things we need to know. This will include things that are not in your video.

14. so.. On the due date, this is how it works:

give the script to me; the list to class mates; show the video; administer ck for lrng.
