Your homework for today is to watch your video and answer the following questions (in essay form/complete sentences). This is due within three days of your presentation. Please answer in complete sentences and develop your answers! Be complete!!

1.  What was it that you first noticed about yourself/your presentation in your video?

2.  What can you say about your verbal presentation…vocal variety (inflection)… were you monotone…did you have good projection…could you detect patterns in your voice?

3.  How many times did you say um, uh, like, and/or you know? (Please count each time and list the number here______)

4.  Were you fluent, or were there issues with fluency? What do you think created this problem? How might you do better next time?

5.  Was it easy to understand you; did you articulate your words? How was your rate-too fast or too slow?

6.  How was your word choice…did you say “things”, “stuff”, or use other slang language? Did you sound like you knew what you were talking about-were you well researched and prepared? Did you use appropriate words to describe?

7.  Did you have a “break in character” where you were reduced to laughter from nervousness or maybe even asked if you might start again?

8.  What about your stance? Was it solid; or did you fidget, sway…maybe cross your legs?

9.  Comment on your hand gestures-did you have any? Were you gripping the stand? Were your hands in your pockets or behind you? Maybe you were wringing your hands? Where were your hands throughout your speech?

10.  Did you have generous eye contact? Did you look all over the room-maybe scanning? Perhaps you focused on one spot through your speech. Did you focus on your note card?

11.  Did you communicate using facial expression? Could we tell your tone, not only from your voice, but also from your face? Did your face remain the same throughout?

12.  Did you have a “reading” or “memorized” tone-did you sound “canned”? Were you spontaneous and conversational?

13.  Make a list of priorities here. List no more than THREE issues of which that you will resolve in order to become a better speaker. If possible, please list ways in which you might resolve them.

14. Compare this self evaluation to your prior presentations. Did your verbalized pauses get better or worse? Did your priority list change? Make some general comparisons between your performances.
