1. Introduction

These instructions are intended to guide contributors to the 11th International Design Conference DESIGN 2010 when preparing papers. We kindly ask you to prepare your paper by carefully following the enclosed instructions. The proceedings will be prepared in MS Word, therefore is very important for us to receive properly formatted papers using the MS Word template available for download from the conference web site. Please note that the papers should be submitted exclusively through the conference website form.

Conference final programme will be published in the form of an summary booklet. Therefore the paper should not include the abstract. The summary for the booklet will be required after the final acceptance of the papers.

2. Technical requirements

The following sections give more detailed information about the layout and format of a DESIGN 2010 paper. Please, when formatting your paper use style definitions as are specified in this document. In this document, the DESIGN predefined styles are used for formatting and you can use this paper as an example. The MS Word style names used in template and this instructions start with the “DESIGN” characters that are continued with the name of the section.

2.1. Format

Prepare the A4 size (21.0 cm or 8.27 inch x 29.7 cm or 11.69 inch) page format with page margins as specified: 25 mm left, 25 mm right, top 25 mm, bottom 32 mm (this will give a text area of 160 mm width and 240 height). The length of the paper is limited to 10 (ten) pages. Due to layout reasons, the number of pages in the paper has to be even. Footnotes and headers are not allowed. Please do not change the temporary page number.

Only the first page should have the conference mark in upper left corner of text area in 10 pt Times without spacing as shown on the top of this page (Style: DESIGN). The conference logo should appear on the first page only, on the upper right corner. SI units should be used throughout the paper.

2.2. Paper title, author(s) and keyword(s)

The right margin of paper title section is 4 cm, same as for authors and keywords sections. Title of the paper should be in 14 pt Times bold, all caps, aligned left, single line spaced with space before 72 pt and after 24 pt. Authors’ name (give initials of the first and middle name followed by family name) should be in 12pt Times regular, aligned left, single line spaced with 24pt space after. Typically three to five keywords should be preceded by the word Keywords: and given in 12 pt Times italic, aligned left, single line spaced.

The main text should be in 11 pt Times regular, single line spaced and full justified left and right.

2.3. Headings

Headings shuld not be numbered automatically, so please add heading numbers, followed by dot character “.” and one space character before text of the heading. First level heading should be in 13 pt Times bold, with 12 pt spacing before and 3 pt spacing after, in a sentence case (cap on first word only). Second level heading should be in 11 pt Times bold, with 12 pt spacing before and 3 pt spacing after, in a sentence case. Third level headings should be in 11 pt Times italic, with 12 pt spacing before and 3 pt spacing after, in sentence case.

2.3.1. Figures

Figures should be cantered on the page with 12 pt before. Please do not insert text boxes over the figures. Figures should be numbered as is shown on the example below. Please prepare your figures having in mind the black and white proceedings press style. Figure caption should be in 10 pt Times bold, cantered, with 3 pt spacing before and 6 pt after, and placed below the figure.

2.3.2. Tables

Tables should be cantered on the page and numbered as is shown on the example below. Table captions should be in 10 pt Times bold, cantered, with 12 pt spacing before and 3 pt after, and placed above the table. Text in table, should be in 10 pt Times regular, cantered, 1 pt before and after.

If the text paragraph follows the table, leave space of one text line before the text. This is not necessary in the cases when the new heading is placed after the table.

3. Equations

Equations are left justified, 2 cm from left with equation number at the right margin.

4. Lists

·  Unnumbered lists should use bullets, and should be in 11 pt Times regular, justified, with 0.63 cm hanging indent and 1.27 cm tabs.

Acknowledgement

Acknowledgement(s) (if any) should be in 10 pt Times regular, full justified, before references, with title in unnumbered second level heading.

References

The references heading should be unnumbered second level heading. References should be marked in the text by giving the name of the author and the publishing year in square brackets, e.g. [Anderson 1996]. No more than 10 references are allowed. The reference list must be complete and have the following format:

·  Papers in journals: name(s) of author(s), "title of the article", journal, volume no, year, pages (first-last)

·  Papers in proceedings: name(s) of author(s), "title of the article", proceedings, editor, publisher and location, year, pages (first-last)

·  Thesis, technical reports: name(s) of author(s), "title of the report", identification code, institute or publisher and location, year

·  Books: name(s) of author(s), "title", publisher and location, year

References should be in 10 pt Times italic, full justified, unnumbered and given in alphabetical order, as shown below.
