Chief People Officer

DESCRIPTION:

The newly created position of Chief People Officer will play an integral role influencing meaningful and lasting performance and engagement capabilities throughout Watson. Position will report directly to the CEO and President with one direct report as well as key relationships with the Executive Team and Management. As a thought leader in organizational and people-related strategies, you will develop exceptional relationships, collaboration, and strong lines of communication across all businesses to design and execute engagement, development and performance plans. The Chief People Officer will be a trusted advisor and strategic human resources business partner to the CEO and Watson teams bringing structured and effective process for leading organizational change that results in continuous, successful progress while continuing to achieve organizational objectives.Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a forward-thinking strategy around the talent needs of the organization at all levels as business continues to change and evolve.
  • Translate strategic and tactical business plans and issues into strategies and programs with a focus on impact to people and engagement.
  • Design and implement models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs for filling those gaps. Areas of activity will include talent management programs for key contributor and leadership positions; training and development programs for preparing employees for more significant responsibilities; and general business development programs to enhance employee empowerment, knowledge and understanding of the business and industry.
  • Develop, implement and influence the onboarding and development training programs that generates enthusiasm for curiosity, learning and growing.
  • Establish a recruiting and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Provide expertise in performance optimization, coaching, data analysis, compensation and rewards, employee relations, learning and development, recognition programs, and strategic development.
  • Coach managers and help them drive effective career conversations, develop their teams by educating them on the tools and provide guidance on career plans/training plans based on individual goals and the goals of the group
  • May maintain reward, benefit and incentive plans.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations and maintaining records;
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending policies and procedures as needed, understanding the overriding company philosophy is based upon expectations and trust with minimal policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will be a charismatic individual with a passion for making a difference and influencing curiosity and growth. She/he will possess a strong affinity for building relationships and understanding the importance of purpose driven company and customer service mindset. Ideal experience consists of the following:

  • Problem Solving/Change Management: Keen ability to solve critical business issues as they relate to people and organizational design; ability and past experience of thinking strategically and acting as a thought leader; involvement in planning and execution; works to achieve goals while overcoming obstacles; has a sense of urgency, tackling problems head-on and collaborating with organization for lasting change.
  • High Business Acumen: Ability to convey organizational and human resources vision and direction; translates business goals into priorities and appropriate performance measures, systematically aligning function and individual performance goals and progress measures and communicating long-term goals regularly to reinforce the larger purpose
  • Collaboration and Influencing: Ability to foster a positive and motivating work environment, encouraging feedback and innovation. Spends time with senior leadership and their teams, meeting and connecting with them; identifying opportunities to help their functions and build organizational capability.
  • Strong change management abilities and have the ability to be comfortable with a genuine give-and-take debate with challenging issues with an ability to be aware of and appreciate the work of others.
  • Scope of experience: Broad human resources experience, including P&L-aligned business partnership skills in organization(s) known for leading-edge human resources practices and strategies.
  • History of working with diverse groups of people, levels and capabilities preferably within a manufacturing or comparative field.
  • Proven project management, organization, and business analysis skills in a dynamic business environment
  • Strong, professional and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • SPHR/SHRM-SCP preferred
