Job title: Internal Communications Officer

Reports to: Head of Internal Communications

Location: London

Main purpose of the role

To help shape and implement the global internal communications strategy to engage and inspire colleagues about our work.

Duties and responsibilities

•Support the development and implementation of the internal communications strategy.

•Develop internal communications plans for specific activities.

•Produce innovative, creative and engaging content which reflects World Animal Protection’s tone of voice. From news stories and staff interviews to success stories, videos and internal announcements, for various communication channels, including e-newsletters and the intranet.

•Produce and distribute the fortnightly staff e-newsletter, Animal Chatter.

•Manage the intranet, helping to create and develop sections as needed and edit/approve stories submitted by content editors.

•Manage and respond to all correspondence sent to the internal communications email inbox, ensuring responses are timely and provide excellent customer service to colleagues.

•Support the continual evaluation of internal communications.

•Support the Head of Internal Communications with any other duties within the scope of this role.

Key skills and experience

Essential

•Previous internal communications experience, ideally within a charity or large global organisation.

•Excellent writer and editor, skilled at distilling large amounts of information for diverse audiences.

•Creative communicator, able to develop inspiring and engaging communication products.

•Proven experience developing and implementing communication plans.

•Event management experience needed to help plan and deliver staff events and initiatives including global all staff meetings and lunchtime talks.

•Proven ability to develop and manage digital content, including working with intranets and e-newsletter software.

•Able to evaluate and measure internal communications activity.

•Highly developed interpersonal skills, including influencing and negotiation.

•Able to build strong global networks.

•Effective time management skills, able to prioritise work effectively, using tools to plan ahead and work to tight deadlines on multiple projects.

•Able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt work plans.

•Attention to detail and the ability to follow tasks and ideas through to completion.

Desirable

•A communications-related qualification.

•Experience using SharePoint and MailChimp.

•Experience using design packages, such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Final Cut Pro.
